Talk To Me About The Toyota Celica GT-4 ST205

Yeah, unfortunately they stupidly priced themselves out of the market in the UK and that was with the UK car mapped on 95ron so actually took a performance hit too compared to the JDM one.

Toyota didn't do too much to help the ST205 :P

Does it actually have lower Performance than the JDM ones? With the Supra they increased the fuel injector and pump size on the UK/US cars to compensate for the lower octane mapping, would have expected the same for the Celica too.

They may have done that to the Supra as it was launched as their high performance car of that time, but the UK Celica just got an ECU swap making the book figure 239bhp instead of 255bhp in the JDM car.

However the JDM usually makes around 260-70easily stock on the rollers due to the 'Gentlemen's agreement' at the time, the Supra was booked at the max declared 275bhp hence the celica needing to show less for the market price difference.

I'd definitely recommend one, but make sure its had the main bits done, otherwise they can be expensive! Clutch and suspension is the main thing really. I've had mine for 2 1/2 years now and it has been an expensive run lol. I replaced all the front super strut suspension parts, minus the banana arms, and it cost near £700 for the parts and labour. Like others have mentioned, the clutch is best done with the engine dropped, so it can be pricey. Thankfully near (ish) me there is JDModified/TGT who specialize in the ST205, so everything has been done nice and easily.

The engine is really good and reliable in my experience. Mine only has an intake, so no real huge power mods and I've never had any problems (touch wood I won't!).

Just make sure you get one with the major bits done, or budget to get them sorted.
