Car rear ended me. He claims i reversed into him

I fitted a rear one to my car today funnily enough. Just uploaded a sample, watch in 1080p goodness. :) It'll be great for catching tailgaters or insurance fraudsters. £60 and 10 minutes to neatly wire it all in.

Also have one on the front.

howdy, what camera is it your using?

I once thought about getting cameras installed in my car.

Then I realised they would be mostly used against me.

Yeah i thought that, but then watched a video on youtube once of a guy fitting a camera to a car in case of scams and he did a good job concealing it (mainly to look neat) so shouldn't look weird or threatening to other road users.

If that's what you mean mate

What was that **** you were listening to

BBC Radio 1, and yes that was a pretty dreadful track.

Got a link for the camera please?

I don't have a link as I bought it about 6 or 7 months ago. Also, I think they only made a limited number of mine as it doesn't actually have GPS. It's called a V1000, the one with the GPS is called a V1000GS which is considerably more expensive. Prices seems to have shot up recently; I only paid around £60 - £70 for mine. If you search V1000GS you'll still find some sellers of the GPS model.

The camera I use at the front is a DR32 which I rate very highly. It's also 1080p but not as discreet as the V1000. However, it does have a wider angled lens which is good for the front and easily reads number plates of oncoming cars. Neither of my cameras have GPS.

So i was at some traffic lights on a slight decline part of the road. Lights turn green and the car in front pulls off but stalls. I pull off and move about 5 foot then put the brakes on to avoid hitting the back of him. The car behind me then slams into the back of me doing lots of damage to his car due to my heavy duty chrome bumpers. It's not done any damage to mine. He immediately gets aggressive stressing out saying i reversed into him blah blah blah. My car was pointing downhill and not moving so that's impossible.

Had a letter from his insurance and i contact my insurance and deny responsibility. Where can it go from here? Can it go to court or will i lose out in any way?

This is the second accident our cars have been involved in accidents recently, and both times our cars were stationary. Not a good couple of months for motoring for me.

Open and shut case.

Just tell your insurance company exactly what happened and he will be found to be at fault.

And it's now dragging on. My insurance want me to sketch out what happened. I'm going to send google streetview pics to show the decline at the point of impact.

I was just going to mention your case Russ. Insurance is rarely an open and shut thing especially when there are two parties with conflicting stories. Insurance will try to go 50/50 I think, but don't let it happen if you believe you are in the right!

I actually did have a car with a Nigerian, reverse into me at a junction. He was sitting there crunching away at the gears, then proceeded to chuck it in reverse and banged it into me.

Before anything, I jumped out and yelled over to a cyclist who was near by so he would be a witness, otherwise i know it would have been my word against his.. The Nigerian then proceeded to try and blame me saying I didn't have my lights on!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My cars lights at the time turned off when you took the keys out of the ignition. Since I pulled the keys when i got out. Luckily for me i maintained my temper and didn't launch a salvo of punches in his face for blatantly trying to pass the blame back on me, but all during this, i failed to actually look at the car which was pretty much fine.. So we all went about our business.

Then about three yrs ago, i had the same happen again. This time in the USA. A van decided to reverse into me, once again at a set of lights, with me sitting behind, and because it had a tow bar it actually punctured a hole right in the middle of my bumper. Once again i went for a witness, a hispanic woman who my guess was probably illegal since she gave me a false tel number. FORTUNATELY, the guy was legit, and said he'll admit to it all, which he did and his boss paid out cash to the repair shop for a new bumper and respray.

The worst part is to cover my own butt, i called my insurance company, who now have it on record that i was involved in an accident. Even though i could have entirely bypassed the insurance, since the van driver was decent enough to just directly pay the repair shop.. At the time, i thought he could be sneaky and say it was me that went into him though, so i made the call.

this! i've said in another thread before about how a woman drove into the back of me whilst I was stationary waiting to across a + junction. she tried to say it was 50/50 because I pulled out and aligned with the main road as i waited for an on coming car (which appeared from the bend, hence me going out slowly and stopping on the main road) that i should have committed, to which I argued... and go straight into oncoming traffic? some people ay xD

but what I did after was go back, took pics of the road to show where I was heading and the direction of the oncoming car (from the bend), then as you say, using google maps/satellite I did a 4-5 pic story board stating where I was and describing the screen as it progressed. E-mailed it to the lovely lady from admiral while still on the phone and she said she could clearly see how the events unfolded and that it was 100% in her fault.

a picture is worth 1000 words, so 4 pics with a short description has to be worth a bit more ;)

Surprise surprise, he's managed to create a fake independent witness. After my lengthy letter along with pics to my insurance describing exactly what happened including the conversations between us, my insurance just asked me if i want them to pay out.

Time to create some of my own fake witnesses and play this **** at his own game. I can't go to court without a witness if he has one.

Don't sink to his level.

The "lady" who drove into me pulled exactly the same stunt, I called her bluff and issued court proceedings against her. 2 weeks later her insurance co paid out for the damage to my car and her family members personal injury claims.

What's the likelihood the witness will lie in court?
