Hi Guys, I need a desk that will be able to house some studio monitors(speakers) and a dual-screen set up. I have a home music studio and I want to add a monitor to my set up, which will limit the space I have.

Preferably I want one that has a separate shelf for the monitors and speakers, so that they don't take up actual desk space.

Any help would be appreciated.

Winsted make some great desks.

Something like this would be

E4606 94" W Digital Desk

They are not cheap though, if I recall that one is about £1200.

Yeah, this is okay, but I don't like the shelf right at the top and on the sides..I don't need them...so it's probably a waste of space. I already have shelves.

Too expensive. £150 is max I can spend i'm afraid.

Don't they charge a lot of money?

buy a cheap door & legs, build yourself. me and the missus are doing this (but with 2 doors, epic massive desk) and it comes to about 100 euros.

Yea something like this or with an Ikea desk top, your best bet is also getting a dual monitor stand(can be had for under £40) and wall mount the speakers or put up shelf's.

How big are the speakers/monitors and how big do you want the desk?

buy an ikea galant (can be bought second hand on ebay) and then buy monitor stands and you'll have what you want and a decent desk.

i'll post my desk some time tomorrow so you can see what i've done with 3 monitors.

Which Ikea Galant do you have? Could they hold the weight of the tower?

What kind of monitor stands would you recommend?

sorry for the late reply, completely forgot about this when was in office, you're in luck though i'm "working" late tonight.

i can't be 100% certain on the weight it could take, but as you can see i have 3 monitors on that desk and it doesn't feel weak at all, i've also had a girl spread on this desk too and it held well, though her legs were in my hands so i was taking some of the weight :D

these are the stands i use

i bought 2 of these desks, and 2 of the rectangle ones for £100 second hand. a quick clean and they looked as good as i needed, and then the extremely large mouse mats covered any tiny damage.
