Colour film of London in 1927

As it changed a lot then? I don't know London at all, except for its famously known buildings.

I love to see pictures of my town Chesterfield from 20-40-80-100 years ago. So much as changed in just 20 years, never mind 100 years. Very fascinating!

Hah, in the 1st 20 seconds, there's a building on the right hand corner, don't know what it was back then, but it's now a Wetherspoons, had a pint and a burger in there last night! Still got a bit of gut ache from the burger...

I love that part, there is a bus (188) that still turns right today at that exact corner.

I used to get the 188 to work, following that route, turning right to go down Tooley Street/Jamica Road :D
Moved out of London now, but I still work in the area.

It's a fantastic piece called 'Comptine d'un autre ete : L'apres midi' (Nursery rhyme of another summer: The Afternoon) by Yann Tiersen, it was used in the movie Amélie, a fantastic film if you haven't yet seen it.

edit -

You'll probably love this as well, 'La plage' also by Yann Teirsen.

You have good taste sir.

The chap who originally filmed this also did one featuring scenes from Land's End to John O'Groats:

It is one of the strangest things to see practically every man with a hat:p

and the state of parliment thick with grime and soot :) dont miss those smoggy days at all.

How noticeable that the vast majority of the men are wearing Jacket, shirt, tie and cap and considering the time, and how well presented.

I wonder if people looking back a hundred years from now will be commenting on hoodies, joggy-bottoms, tattoos, and I-players.

I think it's dirtier on the inside of the Parliament now..;):)

Interesting film. And to think that the Australians in that cricket scene would probably have had to make the journey by train or boat (or a combination of both)

Edit: Just looked it up and a sea voyage would have taken around 42 days.
