After having a boatload of problems , well just the one hopefully and that is the graphics card . Thread here if interested . http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18501566 . I am replacing my old HD5850 and going back to Nvidia .

Now , I have in the region of £150 and have seen this offer on the Gainward cards , is that card going to be my best buy ?

If that's it so be it , but if there are any other suggestions feel free to let me know before I take the plunge . Will be ordering first thing Monday morning , thanks :)

If you are adamant on going back to Nvidia, you should look to the 660 as a minimum if you are a heavy gamer. The 650ti you link will do the job but not with any finesse on high settings.

YOUR BASKET
1 x KFA2 GeForce GTX 660 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with a free copy of 3DMark advanced edition £169.99
Total : £180.79 (includes shipping : £9.00).

If you can stretch an extra £20, that could be worth it. Prices at OcUK are expensive as well.

Here is a comparison of a 650TI (boost version) against a 660

650ti boost is in the region of a 7850, if not the same bar some games.

Anything above this, nVidia wise just gets stupidly expensive vs performance, from my point of view anyway.

For instance a 660ti cost about £35 more than a 7870XT yet the cards have pretty much identical performance.

In fact you can get a 7950 for the price of a 660ti.

Just examples, well aware you are speaking of the regular 660 and not the ti

Yes, the 660ti is still overpriced but the 660 can be bought for a really good price so price/performance is comparable with a 7870. Benefits of the Nvidia over AMD are Physx, more stable drivers and adaptive vsync. The AMD cards can be overclocked more but personally I'm not a big fan of overclocking GPU's as every time I see a graphical glitch I think it's caused by the overclock.
