my i7 3770k overclocking results

upped the cpu fans from 40% to 70%

46c @ 4.4! in game

also every temp is ice cold considering i only have 2 120mm fans spinning at 1000rpm

nice chip...
I need 1.28v to get 4.5Ghz (100% stable and I'm running this 24/7) if I want 4.6Ghz I need 1.32v, but I want to keep under 1.3V so 4.5 it is.

Running prime I get 78C on the hottest core and 70C on the coolest, using air cooler (Corsair A70)

3.5ghz @ 1.00v
4.0ghz @ 0.950v
4.3ghz @ 1.096v
4.4ghz @ 1.136v

i cant see any fps difference between 3.5ghz and 4.4ghz:confused::rolleyes: so might as-well use 3.5

bioshock 4.4ghz 82.26fps (maxed benchmark) 2560x1080
bioshock 3.5ghz 82.02fps (maxed benchmark) 2560x1080

i sometimes wonder if the whole overclocking thing is a bit of a placebo, i once set my old i7 920 to stock and forgot about it and played games for a few days and didnt even notice

yeh me 2 my top temp now is 40c gaming lol

Come on guys this is an overclocking forum!

and no matter what you say added clock speed will show through on games that demand it!

have you played tomb raider yet on high settings, its the only way to play it!

yep ive played tomb raider on ultra settings, i ran the benchmark when i added a second 7970 and only managed a measly avg 108 fps, heaven4 my 3770k overclocked to 4.4 managed 1 fps more than my old i7 920 at 3.8 ghz, i think when it comes to gaming graphics card is still king, admitaly a cpu needs to be fast enough as to not create a bottlneck but me thinks a 3770k running stock 3.9 turbo is fast enough

finished it

3.5ghz to 4.4ghz added 1 fps..

even with a 7970 ~ 2560x1080:p

not saying people shouldnt do it but its not needed but it is fun!:D

sure, for benching nothing wrong with overclocking is the way to go and mabe in the future my 3770k may need it but for now i think i will drop it down to stock press performance in the bios and let it run 3.6 and 4.1 with turbo at stock voltage

How did you get on @ 4.5?

I've left mine at 4ghz (40 x 100). Temps in prime after 40 minutes reach around 70'C. No errors. I realise this is probably on the hot side but I'm sure my heatsink and thermal paste aren't applied as well as they could.

Undervolting it to 0.950 is tempting I must say...

Look forward to seeing how you get on at 4.5.

This is interesting as i have had my 3570k at 4.4ghz on 1.200 for 3 months now and i might try to lower the voltage also.

60 degrees aint hot but would be nice to get it lower on my xigmatek aegir cooler.

wonder if this cpu will do 5ghz hmmm.

Looks like a pretty decent chip smogsy. Will have to look into giving mine a bit of a boost soon.
