I went for the Nordic 4.12 and the battery life is now awful, i can see it droping

Which is exactly what my wife has done.

She's had my old S2, moved to the £10 p/m Sim Only Virgin deal and smiles all round.

I'd have kept it myself if the force was'nt so strong in the HTC One...

Just flashed the official update via kies (phone not locked to network etc..). Looing good so far - smooth operation once cleaned up a bit.

Considering you've already flashed the Nordic ROM I'd just flash the UK generic XEU ROM, but it is up to you. After flashing I'd probably factory reset too.

As far as I can see the only differnce is the CSC which can be changed anyway?

Instructions For Changing CSC:
Download Samsung Galaxy S / S2 CSC app from the Play Store
Open Samsung Galaxy S / S2 CSC app
Tap "Change CSC" button
Select the CSC for you Country
Tap "Install" button (Keep in mind changing CSC wipes your device)

The modems are also different LS9 vs LS4 depending which operator you're with you'll get better signal and battery life.
