The weekend just gone, I went to the West Midlands Safari Park and I really enjoyed it, and would recommend it if you like animals. :)

As the weather is getting nicer (randomly/sort of) I am wanting to go on more days out, have you been anywhere nice recently? Recommend the days out here!

Agree with wm safari and chester zoo
Try twycross zoo-longleat or paignton zoo. Woburn safsri also very good
Cheddar gorge also worth a visit.
If you like military aircraft tanks etc then try
Bovington
Iwm duxford
Faa museum
Raf hendon and cosford
Yorkshire air museum
Newark air museum

Also try eden project or lost gardens of heligan

Sit in traffic for hours.
Have to carry around clothes for all weathers.
Nowhere to park your car
Queue for hours
Pay over the odds for entrance, refreshments, souvenirs
Having to tolerate other people's screaming brats.

Nope, I don't think I've ever had a good day out in the UK.

Edit: I tell a lie, we once went for a day out to the Sellafield Visitor's Centre on a very wet and windy day. That was OK actually.

Keeping with the animal theme, Blue Planet aquarium in Cheshire isn't too bad.

Lol, sounds quite accurate.

Just go running around the countryside dressed as the Dragonborn, shouting Fus Ro Dah at sheep! And then kicking them over so it seems like it worked.

I think the screaming kids part is the worst tbh...

Blue Planet is great, but so expensive for the amount of time you actually spend there!

Spent last Sunday at Ness Gardens (http://www.nessgardens.org.uk/) which the kids loved, lots of open space for them to play in, trees to climb etc.

Grosvenor Park in Chester is also very nice, free, and has a miniature railway to ride on http://www.gpmr.co.uk/. Its also very close to the river for boat rides etc

the only truly bad day out i have ever had was when my misses got asked to leave cafe in blackpool for breast feeding my son even though only thing on show was part of his head was pretty big shock for her.

Places we love to go as family
anglesey sea zoo
chester zoo
blue planet is ok but but for cost and location i would rather pay little bit more and go chester zoo
there is a great selection of museums in liverpool and they are free if you are on a budget
pili palas nature world anglesey never seen so many butterflies

Random - I went to WMSP on Sunday too! Have to confess I was a little disappointed with the animals - saw 1,000,000 sheep/deer, 2 wild dogs, a rhino and a tiger, but it was a bit drizzly, so I guess most of them were being sensible and hiding! :p

Really? I saw loads! I went on the Saturday. :)

Love the Maritime museum, especially the bit about customs and excise called Seized! in the basement, which was genuinely more interesting than I expected!

Museum of Liverpool was also very good, and a great range of items.

There is an offer on where you can get a ticket to the U-Boat story, Spaceport and the ferry for a single price, all of which we really enjoyed. Spaceport was really cool, my 4 year old loved it. Not so much the U-Boat story, I did though!

Its a shame that Spaceport have finished the Wallace and Gromit exhibition though. That said, I'm sure many people would enjoy the Dr Who one!

We keep planning on going to WMSP but poor health or bad weather always intervene. We have every intention of going to Yeovilton Airday this year. Going to Bristol Zoo and a Circus with a courtesy of a couple of groups who offer medical and respite support for son.

My daughter is away on an adventure camp in half term, so I hope to find some interesting wheelchair friendly days out for us to do in her absense.

Spent the weekend in Leeds last weekend, had good weather and it's a real nice city. Anyone there wanting to eat Chinese food I recommend the Red Chilli(?) it's lovely.

lost gardens of heligan

Went to both of these places as a kid and loved them! Have very fond memories of both places :)

Indeed the Red Chilli is very good for food :D

For North West days out, we are struggling to find places near by for a 3 year old, but we have taken her to Smithills which is great cause you can have tractor rides and see all the baby animals (at the moment), donkey rides, hold chicks etc! She loves it. Also taken her to Cheshire Farm which has THE BEST ice cream parlor (eat in or take away I might add) EVER! As it was when we went, she was still a little young to enjoy all the stuff there, but we will go again :)

Next, we are thinking of taking her to Gullivers World and Lego Land soon. Anyone been lately to comment?
