Days Out (UK)

Next, we are thinking of taking her to Gullivers World and Lego Land soon. Anyone been lately to comment?

Lego Land Discovery Centre is a great day out, usually super busy, and its not huge, but its Lego! so there is more than enough to keep little ones entertained for a good few hours. There is often a 2 for 1 offer floating around for here too.

Knowsley Safari Park is a good day out if the weather is nice. Has a few theme park rides for kids too, so something else for them to do while they are there.

I think the screaming kids part is the worst tbh...

Yep - Nothing than worse than turning up somewhere & finding it full of kids running around shouting & being a pain in the butt.

What makes it worse is the parents don't give a **** about it or about other peoples enjoyment, as long as their alright.

Shocking fancy turning up somewhere which provides family entertainment to find kids running around enjoying themselves (thats what the running around and shouting is btw). And shame of those parents allowing that to happen even if they have just forked out £50+ for the pleasure.

Longleat is about the best safari park I've been to in the UK. A great drive around the park area seeing the animals, and then plenty to do once you get to the house and grounds.

I would never go to WMSP, they sold on white lions to an intermediary who they know well, and then ended up in a japanese circus. Their attitude to the event was bad, denying they knew when they did according to insiders, reports of other animal cruelty, and deleting posts on their facebook when people questioned it.

Thanks for the heads up - was thinking about going here a couple of weeks back and had put it on a to do list but not if this is remotely true - will check that out but in the meantime I wont be going there

Not really full days out but if you have a couple of hours to kill in Cambridge then I'd recommend The Museum of Zoology and The Sedgewick Museum of Earth Sciences. Some great exhibits in both - especially for a dinosaur nut like me - whoops! I mean my son. :) Oh, and both museums are completely free.

Also: A very good website here that I use frequently. http://www.dayoutwiththekids.co.uk/things-to-do-family/cambridge/Museums-and-Galleries

My issue is that everywhere is so expensive :(

Take the day at Knowsley SP which we took our 3 yr old too in October for her 3rd Birthday. Cost for entry was £40+, throw on top of that £20 for petrol, £10 approx for packed lunches for all THEN you had to pay for the rides in the 'park' area after

So your talking £70+ for a few hours out of the house with one child and 2 adults!!

Chester Zoo is even worse IMO!

Just been looking at Lego Discovery Centre at Trafford Park and you can get £8.20 (I think) tickets - each - if you go after 4pm and book online before, so £25.00 max, but then you have all the rest to add to it as well so it might as well be £50 for a day out!

I am glad sometimes to only have shares in a child rather than my own - I honestly don't know how we would afford to have a child of our own as well with out me having to go back to work almost immediately (which I wouldn't want to do)

If anyone can advise of somewhere in the North West (Manchester) which is cheap and will entertain a 3 1/2 yr old PLEASE let me know :) :P

Blue Planet is great, but so expensive for the amount of time you actually spend there!

There's quite often ticket offers in newspapers, I know I didn't pay anywhere near full price when I went.

The National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth, on the other hand, is a full day out and I think it was only £10 with a free return ticket. It's a bit far to go if you're based in SOT though.

Ruining other peoples pleasure - You forgot to add that.

Kids should be seen not heard - Kept quiet & under control
