Just over your shoulder
So I have a 5 day trip to EuroDisney, and am looking at what to do about phone usage - mainly data.
I currently have a TMobile Full Monty Sim in my HO (unlocked), but the data bundle options are not great. Was all set to get a cheapo 30-day 3 SIM and then pay £5/day for unlimited data in France, but cannot get International Roaming enabled until been with them for 60 days
Vodafone have the EuroTraveller thing, but would likely need to pay for 2 months @ £23 and £3/day as they said instore that the cancellation would mean a further month notice
So......anyone got any advice - I don't have time left to wait for anything to be posted to me, so has to be a shop-based solution.....ideally, I guess, a French PAYG SIM I can buy there, or similar....?

I would assume a French PAYG sim when you are there is better than anything you can get in the UK.

I go over to Belguim a lot (gf's family is there) and we change sims to Mobile Vikings when we hit france/belguim. Pay £10 for 2GB of data and 2000 texts and 75minutes of talk time for a month. Shame you have to roam in France but there should be a similar company.

can you make do with this:

Wi-Fi in Disney Village
McDonald's
Free Wi-Fi available inside the restaurant! Grab a "café" and connect!

Maybe......but I would like the flexibility of a SIM if possible.....

Switch off data and enjoy your holiday! :)

LOL - fair point....
TBH, it is mainly for evenings when the little uns are asleep, but I also have a few business things I need to be on top of (i.e. VAT return date and other LtdCo shenanigans :()

I know EE do decent data bundles. You buy x Mb and they last y days or until the data runs out.

Costs are:
Lasts for Allowance Price
24 hours 2MB £0.50
24 hours 100MB £2.00
7 days 250MB £12.50
30 days 1Gb £25.00

I don't see that on Tmobile - perhaps it is different?
I see, for Internet Travel Booster:

If you are in a Euro Travel Zone country you can buy a 3MB Booster for £1, a 10MB Booster for £2.50, or a 50MB Booster for £10

EDIT: Found those prices - only if you have a 4GEE Phone Plan with Roaming :(

Its like they have not updated the data rates since WAP.

Is the EU bringing down data prices like they managed with calls?

It just seems that Tmobile are not very good.....as I mentioned in first post, a 3 contract (>60 days old) allows a £5/day unlimited data use in Europe add-on, Vodafone have the £3/day pass that allows you to use your regular allowances in Europe.....EE rates are pretty reasonable, per Super-Spy's post.....meh!
I guess I can try and get Tmobile to 'match' what EE provide

Where you staying? All the times I've been to Paris (I admit - all inner city and not close to ED) I have had hotel wifi. I've used a free SIM (http://mobile.free.fr/ - company is confusingly called "Free") before but it was for an extended time there and I got a friend to get it for me ahead - not sure if it's a FR citizen thing. They are so cheap that they give away calls for free on their base package.

Networks cannot match rival overseas roaming packages - roaming is really complex and as such the charging for it is bolted down tight.

Staying @ Hotel New York - one of the Disney hotels - not really sure how to go about ordering one to be delivered there.....or if that is really an option.
I have heard of 'free'.....perhaps I will look into it more :)

is it just data you need or something else ?

with Vodafone you can get a data only sim for £10 a month then have the £3/day EuroTraveller.
in theory you can send in your 30 days notice when you get it so you only have it for a month, althou not sure if that'll work or not.

unfortuatlly most of the good roaming rates are only available on contracts.

But a french payg sim with data might be a better option if your phone is unlocked
