Bowing at chinese take away

I have a saw neck and i was at the Chinese take away and as he gave me my food it must have looked like i was bowing cause he said that he was not Chinese in Essex accent. So i said i said i got a saw neck. He did look Chinese, you think it was rude? Got me wondering if anyone else bows at takeaway, anyone bow at chinese takeaway staff?
