I wanna replace the stock fans on my H100i but have a few questions I hope you can help with.

Looking at these fans. Scythe Gentle Typhoon 120mm 1850 RPM - 3 Pin AP-15's. I hear they are very good with good pressure and low noise.

Will they fit under the top grill on the 600T? The stock H100i fans are already a tight fit under there.

Can I connect them directly to the H100i just like the stock fans and control them through the LINK program?

Thanks

They're 25mm thick just like any other normal 120mm fan.

Dunno about corsair link, but if it can control the stock 3 pin fans, I don't see why not.

I have read some stuff about the LINK software not working with anything but the stock fans or some other corsair fans. My 600T case does have a built in fan controller which I have 2 case fans connected to. I could use that for the new fans but it does not let you see rpm's or anything so would prefer the link software to work.

Some guy on the corsair forums says those fans touch the inside of the grill on the 600T but is not clear whether it causes any issue.

I would think so but I am not sure. It's been a few years since I done anything like this with cooling. I know I used to use speedfan but I think that was only for curves.

Yes they will. Every standard 120mm fan is going to be a tight fit in that location thanks to how little space Corsair left

No. Corsair's H100i Link fan controller only works with PWM (4-pin) fans.

The Scythe GT 1850 is a 3-pin fan so it can only run at full speed when connected to the H100i.

The 600T is notorious for having a shoddy fan controller. I would avoid using it and instead use something better, like something from Lamptron or Scythe.

Thanks for the reply. Does that mean that any PWM fans would work with the H100i? I have struggled to find any info on this apart from one person who said that even some PWM fans aren't recognised by the LINK software.

Was also looking at the noiseblocker eloops

They get good reviews, seem to be roughly the same performance vs noise levels as the scythes and are also 4 pin pwm. What do you think of those?

If I buy 2 fans and just connect them to my motherboard could I just use speedfan or something to set the rpms? If I also get a pwm splitter cable could I use it to connect 2 fans to the same motherboard header and control them through software?

The fan controller on my case works fine so I guess I was lucky there. The 2 case fans I have running on it work fine but it's not ideal as you can't see rpm's or anything.

I have gentle typhoons under my grill of the 600t. Tbh that grill RUINS temps. If I put the grill on, temps jump up around 8-9c.

Ok guys. I installed the noiseblocker fans. The noise because of that top grill was crazy as these fans are a bit wider than the standard corsair H100i fans. I removed the grill and the noise was much better. Anyway ut was obviously not the grill but the plastic frame inside which is up against the fans.

So 5 mins of careful work with some side snips and I have removed enough of the plastic to allow free airflow through the grill into the fans. The noise level is much better and the temps are lower. Also since these fans are better I have them at lower rpms which reduces noise even further.

I urge anyone with a 600T to try this easy mod which takes 5 mins and is not visible once the grill is replaced.

I was thinking about doing this. Did you use any particular wire cutters? I would have thought they'd be too thick to get inside the 600t grills on top to cut.

EDIT

Sorry just seen you meant the plastic. Any chance you can post a pic of your handy work?

As someone already posted pics I wont go into great detail but heres a look at my case now

As you can see I didn't cut away as much as the person 0on that other forum did, you can see where I have left the plastic frame at the fron, back and sides of the fans so there is still some support for the mesh.

I used side snips like these but anything similar will be fine. Wish I had seen the idea on that other forum a couple of weeks ago but I guess thinking it up by myself worked too ;)

Took about 10 mins and is a major improvement to my noise levels and is a couple of degrees cooler thanks to better airflow.

BTW the noiseblocker fans work well with corsair link so no need to connect them elsewhere.

Took it a step further and cut away 2 120mm fan size holes in the metal internal grill so now my fans blow straight onto the radiator. Can feel better airflow with my hand coming through the radiator compared to before.

Again it was easy and took about 20 mins, the metal is like butter with decent snips. Just don't cut away your screw holes ;)

That works too ;)

My noiseblockers run great straight off the H100i so I just use them like the stock fans. It's the first time I've ever modded a case and I am glad I did. it's so much quieter now with better airflow.
