Hey guys a quick question.

Got a Gigabyte Titan arriving tomorrow :), one quick question for you.

Would it be worth overclocking my I7 3770k at present its running at stock its all running on a Z77 board with 8 gig of ram at stock speed too.

I'd be surprised if a 3770k at stock would bottleneck a titan in any game apart from maybe something like a flight sim or a really cpu dependant game and even then it seems doubtful to me. I can't notice a difference between 5ghz and 4ghz on my 2700k in the host of games i play.

Most games you see next to no increase, other than those like you pointed out that rely on the CPU more often than not, it's rude not to overclock your hardware though :D

I run my 3930k @4Ghz daily and only take it past 5Ghz when benchmarking, obviously if you're running a 120hz screen and have multiple cards you'll be more CPU limited than with one card and 60hz.

Look at you with your 6 cores. You could probably run that at 3ghz and wouldn't notice a difference. :p
 
4ghz on the CPU will be plenty for a single Titan, if you get any bottlenecks just turn up the in game settings.
 
Hey guys got the cpu up to 4.4 and all seems to be pretty stable, will stress it out a bit later.

Running an H80i on the cpu with a couple of noiseblockers in push pull on it so no worries there.

Plus plenty of air coming into the case.

Got a good price on my old GTX680 which helped toward the cost of the Titan (yes I know its not cheap but I spend an awful lot of time on the pc etc) plus got the 2 free games with it looking forward to putting Metro Last Light through its paces too.

The Titan has just been delivered to me at work :)

Once I get home later this evening, after installing it I will let you know my thoughts.


Btw the overclock was stable too - happy days!

Enjoy your new card, the Titans are along with the GTX 690s are best looking cards I have ever seen with their stock coolers.

Don't forget to post some benches when it is up and running.
