Mate that looks epic! :D

I see what you mean about the S4 looking better than the S3 and that famous wallpaper looks amazing on the 5" screen!

Thank you! I can't wait for Thursday :)

:D

you made the right decision to try the S4 bud - I hope you keep it!

kona, how come your notification bar isnt fully transparent?

The wallpaper has an added 25% tint at the top to mimic a bar. I really don't like it fully transparent, looks weird to me.

Got to be honest, I'm a little surprised less people haven't bought one from O2 and are thinking £520 is an amazing price.

numerous reasons spring to mind

1) Its still an O2 phone full of any O2 bloatware they feel like putting on there
2) I expect they'll make a fuss about unlocking it free, they may well still do it but it might not be immediate
3) Even unlocked I believe you're still at the whim of whether O2 want to send you updates (unless you want to root and flash which I do pretty much out of the box but for some reason thats a big issue for some people)
4) The terms and conditions on this could easily change, this still looks very much like a loophole that O2 may close

1) I downloaded the official unbranded MDM this morning, flashed using Odin with no issues, no expertise needed and now no branding.

2) I just saved around £120+ on this phone, I then paid £8 to have it unlocked in about 10 minutes from a chappie on eBay.

3) As said in 1, flashing a debranded, stock ROM is so simple on Samsung... almost easier than applying an OTA. If that's an issue for someone, well that's their issue, not O2's...

4) This whole multi million pound campaign on their new 'Refresh' contracts is very unlikely to be changed overnight/at all. Yes, they might be able to change some terms and conditions, but, if nothing else, it would be a PR disaster if they now change their minds and decide you can't quit your Air Time contract, as agreed when signing up. With such a big change, I can't see them getting away with that legally.

But the main reason to my mind would be you still have to go through the whole business of being credit checked, having proofs of ID, calling O2 and cancelling at the right time and having them be fine with that, again this seems very much like a loophole, whilst you can infer from their terms that you can cancel immediately and some people have certainly managed it I really don't think it would be a big deal for O2 to change that aspect and make you wait a month for example, or 3 months, or make a certain number of phone calls etc, they're not advertising this as CANCEL ON DAY ONE GET CHEAP PHONE!!!

Infer from their terms? There's adverts on the TV saying you can! Their whole shop is plastered in posters about their new revolutionary way of doing phone contracts.

As it stands, I have a £550+ phone for £430, which I get to now pay in interest free installments if I wish, and a 2GB spare SIM for just £16 (O2 Open, work discount) which I'm actually thinking I might keep now anyway, as it's a pretty good price and a SIM on a different network will come in quite handy actually.

But, yes, each to their own. If you have enough money that 20 minutes getting a contract and maybe 30 minutes to cancel at some point is not worth £100-£150, fair play. :)

I suppose that's fine if you have a cheap sim to go with it. Otherwise it doesnt seem like such a brilliant deal. Even over one year, if you pay £16/month for a sim, that brings the total to £712 - there are cheaper contract deals available over 12/18/24 months.

Unless you have an exceedingly cheap sim deal, I'm struggling to see how the O2 deal is financially any better? what am i missing?

How do you mean? The SIM doesn't really have anything to do with it. O2 will sell you the S4 for £430. The SIM and Air Time is basically optional.

Also...

Even over one year, if you pay £16/month for a sim, that brings the total to £712

£430 for S4, £16 a month times 12 = £622

Keep an eye on Amazon's prices, as you probably know they fluctuate quite a bit. When you see it at £550 hit the buy button! :D

That one's not actually from amazon though, it's through a third party seller on their market.

£554 for the white - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00BULAUWG?m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&tag=iduk-21

£550(.24) for the black - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

Both directly from Amazon. :)

After mobilefun.co.uk cancelled my pre-order for two black S4s I got two from Vodafone. So this morning the postie brought the two from mobilefun.co.uk so they're going back unless anyone on here wants them at cost. £535 each. Still sealed boxes. I'm in Glasgow if you want to collect.

That's not the one from the post I quoted.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Gal...=1368570344&sr=8-2&keywords=Samsung+Galaxy+S4

That link is from the post I quoted, and is a different shop to the one you've posted there. The one from the original link is "Dispatched from and sold by Qbit Distribution."

Edit - However I do agree with your point, if the one you buy is fulfilled by amazon, then it should be just the same as buying direct.
