GTX 680 or Radeon 7970

Can can a leadtek GTX680 2gb or Gigabyte WF 7970 3GB.

Both the same price (£300), which one is the "better" card.

Have sourced a GTX 680 for £300.

On balance it goes down to personal preference then. Does the 680 come with warranty and does they 7970 come with games? Which has the better acoustics? They much of a muchness, fanboyism aside.

both new work warranty, 7970 congress with the free game bundle.

7970, 1Gb extra vram, larger memory bus, better at higher res, AMD 3D(Tridef), free games slightly faster oc'ed than a 680 oc'ed in general.

680, 1Gb less vram, smaller memory bus, PhysX, Nvidia 3D.

If you are happy with Nvidia, stick with the devil you know, if you are at ease with both vendors, then take your pick.

Both are good, both will serve you well.

Being bit of an nvidia fanboy I can't stress how good the 7970 is more so in the later stages of it's life.

I gave 680 SLI but for single card performance would probably have gone for a 7970.

If you have no preference, check some benchies of your main games at the resolution you play.

OP if you are going to use a single card, go for the HD 7970, no contest.

play at 1080p, currently plan to use a single card though not adverse to going SLI/xfrire in the future.

Looks like the 7970 is the one to go for.

You do get a 3 year UK based RMA service with Gigabyte, for me that would be a deal breaker unless the Leadtek can offer something better.
