gtx 480 1.5gb to 7870 2gb?

I have 4 of them in a bitcoin mining rig I built recently. Each 7970 gets around 720 Mh/s which means it would take roughly 30 days (according to this calculator) to mine 1 bitcoin. 1 Bitcoin is worth around £73 today. For my purposes, buying graphics cards made more sense then putting that cash in either the stock market or directly into Bitcoins themselves since an income producing hardware asset is better than buying a volatile currency or investing in the stock market (which has performed quite poorly over the last few years).

Give it another month and it will take you 1.5 months due to ASICs, then 2 and so on because the difficulty is getting stupidly high. At the current rate it would take you 20 months to pay off your components, thats not including electricity or difficulty raising. Taken both of those in to account you are looking at about 8/9 years. As the cards are likely to give up the ghost by then due to running 100% 24/7 for a few years you might as well cut your losses now and sell.
