Not really. Look at all this talk about Amazon prices. When has anyone said "But what SIM are you using? How much is it a month?"
They don't. It's irrelevant.
People arent discussing the sims costs presumably because it suits their arguments better. "Hey it's only £430". Great, now how are you going to use it without
paying for a sim in some fashion?
But I don't want a 2 year contract, I already have one. It's going to be a better deal if you sign up for 2 years. Surely you understand that?
If you are swapping phones constantly then the prices become more attractive, but otherwise if you are keeping the phone for say, more than 6 months, then the cost advantage is practically 0 or a loss as you still need a sim to use the phone, therefor the cost of the sim should be included when looking at the cost of ownership, and that is my argument
Again, contract, subsidised phones and SIM free need to be separate comparisons.
I dont see why? infact its quite easy. for a standard contract, cost of ownership is fixed at up front cost + the total of however many monthly installments of
x. for handset only, it's handset price plus the cost of of the sim used in the phone whilst you owned it. There's a point at which the cost is essentially the same with the handset-only being cheaper on the short term and contract being cheaper long term. This is generally for new phones of course, exceptions are not rare as people find the odd incredible deal etc. For handset-only buyers worried about cost, you really want to be on the left side of that curve, otherwise it's contract.
I dont see why they aren't comparable.
Ok about the distortion with regards to music.
I use PowerAmp with Denon ACH260 in ears.
I have found there is distortion with the lows and bass. The overall sound quality is a big improvement over my old Nexus S but the S4 is distorting on the bass and low.
I played about with the EQ settings and got the mid and high spot on, super clear as was the lows. I had to turn the phones volume down and up the pre amp on the app to get a good balance of volume and minimal distortion and this is with the bass turned right down on the app.
The distortion was more noticeable on tracks from Lana Del Ray, Lindsey Stirling and Spectrum by Florence. Laura Marling and London Grammar were spot on where the bass is a lot softer. Mudvayne was all good but then they have enough distortion in their music to hide the phones distortion.
I did try the stock headphones but after 30 seconds I promptly ripped them out they were that poor lol.
I do hope there is an update to sort this as it is going to get annoying.....
That's unfortunate. I wonder if an impedance adaptor would help. /goes off reading
