Is it crazy to get a Motorola maxx hd imported?

For now I may disable the wireless on the router and just connect the wireless access point I have to the switch

I guess I'll have an experiment with browsers. Yes ocuk looks terrible on chrome

Haven't a clue what was up with the argos sim. I rang 3, tried all activation methods. But no matter.

Oh I forgot to say the loud speaker is miles miles better too. Only thing worse than the nexus is I don't get so many colours on the nled :O

Are you connecting to a 5Ghz or 2.4Ghz band? (Wireless-N or G respectiveyl)

If the former you might want to try switching off 5Ghz and sticking to 2.4Ghz as I've found with a few devices that the wall penetration of the 5Ghz band doesn't seem as good.

Get Lightflow for the LED colours!

*edit*

If you root it you should be able to install AOSP browser. Chrome is decent but the text rendering of vBB and things like Disqus comments boxes is awful :p

I have light flow. Why orange and pink won't come up I don't know

Yes I have read that with root I can install the stock browser. Are there any draw backs to rooting?

Yes I have it set to 2.4 already. Router doesn't have 5 anyway!

Just tried
virgin. 2g only 2 bars
Tmobile 2g 2 bars
Orange 3g 1 bar
3 3g 1 bar

So looks like there is no other option. Rubbish

Move again then! :p

Best to probably stick with the MAXX then since it has the best battery life.

al4x - as you have both the Maxx and Nexus, how do they compare signal reception wise?

These home surveys or whatever they're called when you buy and sell a house should have a section for mobile signal strength maybe :D :D

About the same Tbh. The maxx is only slightly better. What it is definitely better at is regaining signal one lost

I use Maxthon browser, find it much better than stock or chrome.

Actually given Maxthon a try and quite like it :D

With my Razr i signal varies and often times it would have the same signal level as the HTC One X. When the One X would lose signal the Razr i would hold on a lot longer, often as not never dropping signal. As you say the odd times it does it seem to reconnect pretty quickly. One S, One X and Samsung GS2 I had previous to the razr i all would quite happily sit without signal for hours. In cities none of those phones had many problems though I notice in some bars razr i holds signal where as the other 3 didn't. It's out in the sticks where I live and work where signal is variable that the Motorola really shines. Though I like the look of the new HTC One (though I don't like the price  ) and possibly the forthcoming HTC M4 I'll take some convincing their radios will match Motorola's.

And include some information about the internet speeds expected too ;)

It seems rather bad for signal, as I thought here was bad.

Edit: Just to add for the above comment, here on three (with my HTC One) I've only ever seen minor drop outs with signal, but I have generally had 'H' and atleast 2-3 bars everywhere, often more. So far the signal has been a huge improvement over an iPhone 4 and o2 - but I don't know anyone else with this phone or network to give any comparisons on reception quality. I have even seen '0 bars' with an 'H', and still managed all functions with good internet speeds. That left me confused :p

I had a One X on Three and out in the sticks. Signal was variable but way too much time without signal but don't get the problem with the Motorola. On the whole it wasn't bad except where I needed it to be. Battery wasn't great either and suspect it was sucked dry trying to hook back up to mobile network. It was the same on T-Mobile. Voda and O2 were useless here.
