Advice for a new Personal Trainer ??

God I love threads like this.

Comes to forum asking for advice, gets advice, advice not what op wanted to hear, abuses posters.

Many thanks for your insightful answers.

Perhaps a little foolish to seek knowledgable / intelligent answers on a general forum rather than a sport specific one.

Thanks again - I'll let you get back to your doubtless failed relationships, inadequate real-life social skills and generally unhappy lives (as the average sarcastic forum poster is defined by the American Institute of Psychology) - probably in your parents houses.

Interesting troll is actually boring.

SA is basically this, big and ripped guys, the few that frequent, tell people how to train the best possible way, or at least the best possible way to begin on the path. The fat lazy prats thats asked for the advice, tell us about all the things they cant do and how hard life is. Then a bunch of non-lifting lurkers who have made very little progress over possibly years of bad training, wade in and give incorrect advice and lambast the members who have actually achieved something.

My god. I was actually feeling sorry for someone being misguided into thinking they were 'qualified' to be a personal trainer (as opposed to someone calling themselves a personal trainer and having a piece of paper with their name on it).

After that return to the thread I'm embarrassed on the OP's behalf :o

Dudddddddddddde, what about the skinny getting hoooge doing proper training from knowledge from the hench guys criteria! :(:D

I mainly lurk this section of the forum but I have to say you'd be very foolish and ignorant to dismiss the wealth of information that gets posting in this section daily.

Go over the Bodybuilding.com forum and it'll just echo much of what you've already heard in this thread.

Bodybuilding.com is a waste of space... Wait it might just be perfect for him! :D

I wonder if he meant he was foolish posting in a general forum but was surprised by the insightful answers he's received?

Wow, what a thread. Thoroughly enjoyed it lol, certainly had the same thoughts as most people here though. Sounds to me you should research, and PT at a gym or get a car. If you turned up to my house with a kettlebell i'd tell you to leave unless it's described as a kettle bell work out.

Unless of course you are looking to buy into and aggravate an extremely vapid market who's only issue is getting money from people who don't know any better at the price of their health and fitness and health and well-being.

Hardly

Granted misc probably takes away any credibility for that site, but the other sections such as the contest prep and nutrition section can be very very good

Yeah I'm sure... but only if you're able to sift through the crap and the "gospel" people post.

*sigh*

Ok. I shouldn't have bothered.

Seriously, OP... You come onto a public internet forum as a personal trainer asking for advice. Some people will criticise you for being a personal trainer and asking for advice. You get advice, from people who have been spending a lot more time in the gym, looking at nutrition, exercises and such like than yourself, and doing research. You realise that they don't have a piece of paper with 'Personal Trainer' written on it, and decide that you must therefore know more.

I'll also have some fun with your definition of the average forum poster whilst I'm here. The irony being that you don't realise that this is a sub-forum of guys who are HIGHLY knowledgeable who actually generally hold a reasonably level of pride in the quality of advice given here.
