Oven Imploded: Just the right moment.

The two are completely unconnected. He happened to be putting the mobo in a new build when the cooker door shattered.
Ahhhhhh, I get it. I genuinely thought from his original statement that he was putting the motherboard in the oven!

If I was putting it in the oven, then RMA wasnt an option, rather gas mark 5 for 10 mins :D

Looks like that oven is really..

Wow...If I were you I would have immediately cut your legs or something like that and try and claim some money for it. My Friend almost had the exact same thing happen to him and he got like 50k from Currys who sold him it as well as the Manufacture deal.

wasted opportunely

I work in a Negligence Claims department so ask him to show you the proof.
It is my experience that people normally times the figure they got by 10.

Ill have to ask him because what he done was illegal without a doubt because the new oven blew when he was not there, it was only like 1 hour later when he realized he could get some money for this, he he burned a huge hole in his Jeans and then literally picked up the glass from the floor and cut himself with it, I'm sure he put the glass into his leg as well to make it look as real as possible as the Oven exploded outwards to his legs. He then called 999 while he was on the floor apparently screaming in pain when the ambulance people came and that was after they had to break the door down as he couldn't move...

ouch

mine - I'll see if I can dig photos out - only had the surround left ! the glass was embedded in the walls, cabinets, etc ... - even bounced off the wall and embedded in the same wall as the oven !

I'd gone off to check the forums/emails and had ignored beeper to say dinner was ready (good job) - and as I was walking into kitchen the oven blew up .... !

the reason ? my son (he was about 2 at the time) - put in a tin of beans or something - when we unpacked the shopping ....

I'm still finding glass now - about 6 years later

Is the story on Snopes :D

For a long time the glass has been 'Safety Glass' and unless there was a bomb in the oven it wouldn't 'blow up' and shoot glass that fast that it would burn a huge hole in his Jeans and embed into his legs.
Curry's would know this and the manufacturer would definitely know this.
I worked on a cooker factory for 27 years and this never happened however if it was a washing machine it could have happened.
Just put it down to your mate exaggerating a bit.

Yeah well whatever happened he had to damage himself to get the claim for it which is psychotic by itself.

I don't for one second dispute what you say about washing machines exploding, but at what point are they mostly like to spray glass? During a spin cycle, I imagine?
