Have an i7 at 4.0ghz. With a 560ti. And a 750w corsair psu.
Looking to save on the old electric and want a more efficient pc.
I game a lot on the current pc. Would an upgrade be advisable ? Looking at mabye 300/400 on mobo CPU and mem and mabye a psu?

Nothing about your system suggests its particularly power hungry, any savings you make upgrading will be dwarfed by the cost of new parts.

If you are upgrading anyway fair enough but I wouldn't change to save a few quid on your electricity bill.

The only thing I would upgrade, would be the Gpu. The majority of my power consumption comes from my 560ti`s whilst gaming. So you could invest in a more efficient card. Have a look in the MM and see what is available and sell your card to offset the price.

Stick with your gear atm and wait for a full upgrade. Haswell is geared towards power saving, and so are the most recent graphics cards and monitors. if you want, buy a plug meter for monitoring your power consumption. I'd say, you'll be pulling around 130W idle, maybe a bit less. That's what I had with a 1055T and a 560ti. Now I use about 70-75W idling around (just the tower, not taking into account monitors, NAS, wireless headphones and speakers), but I never leave my PC on doing nothing for extended periods of time. You'll save virtually nothing when the computer is actually doing something.
