Graphic Card Buying Options

Right now I run a Asus HD5970 which is on it's way out. I need a replacement but wondering what I should do. I'm not really a fan of AMD after having this card for over 3 years and had constant problems with it and drivers. I think I want to go back to Nvidia.

What's my best options at the moment?

I've been looking at the clearance sales for a while. Prices of the 670 haven't really moved much past the £300-350 mark. I was also looking at the 660, for the price of a 670 I could get SLI. Although that would make upgrading in the future harder as I'm already sticking with two cards. Then there is the 680, a lot of money but is it really worth it? I remember reading threads about this a while back and people still today either argue 670 or 680.

Anyway so my choices I have in mind are...
660 SLI
670
680

Which would you choose and why? Would you suggest to buy the more expensive card or wait for something else? Keep in mind the price, about £350 is max.

Thanks!

Wait a couple of weeks to see what the new Nvidia cards come in at, there is a possibility that the 760ti (effectively a slightly faster 670) will be cheaper than the currant 670's making it a real steal.

nVidia aren't really worth it for the most part, their price to performance ratio is a lot worse than AMD's.

It's best to wait for what nVidia brings out with the 7 series, though I can't see the situation being much better than it is now.

It's swings and roundabouts when it comes to drivers as well, google will show you that people have issues with AMD and nVidia drivers, but realistically you're much less likely to have any driver issues with a single GPU card.

I reckon the general consensus would be to get a 7950 and overclock it, and if you wanted a nice big performance boost, get 2 and overclock them if you're willing to up your budget if you were buying right now.

But sensibly, wait a few weeks.

I would take suggestions for AMD cards though. I have had a bad experience with the dual GPU cards but single GPU would be fine I guess.

Whatever gets me the best performance for my money.

I have a gtx 670 and before that i had a gtx 260 , not had 1 problem with either of them, although i got a duff overclocker with this 670. I tried a 7970 a few months after release for a week and did not like it, some people just like what they know.

After saying that if the 780 is a flop ( which i think it will be price wise ) i will be getting the next new amd card whenever that is.

Do you think the price of the 670 will match the 7950 when the 700 series gets released? If so would it be worth it over the 7950?

7950 and 670

I don't know about the GTX 670, if the GTX 770 ends up more expensive than the GTX 670... probably not, but i think the 7950 may come down a bit in price.
