Hi, around a year ago i bought the above mentioned monitor, its 120hz and cost me £420 the reason i bought a Samsung was because i had an AMD card so buying an ASUS with the Vision was pointless.
Anyway after a few days it would go black and display the message something along the lines wrong resolution change to 1920x1080 even thought it was at the right resolution, after some googleing and posts on here i found out it was pretty common and people had returned monitors and some put up with it.
Even PCM2 who reviews monitors said this was known and had spoke to Samsung reps i think and they new there were problems with the DP on this monitor.
Well after about a month i had enough phoned OCUK but it was just out of their 28 day period, so i sent it to Viewtek who do Samsungs repairs, i was expecting maybe a new monitor as i knew there was no known fix, well i got the same monitor back and put up with it for a while.
Well the last month i have had it go black screen and no matter what i di changing inputs it wouldn't work only turning my pc off would work, today it done it 3 times in 10 minutes and every time i had to turn the pc off by the power button as i couldn't see the desktop!
So i thought enough is enough i want a refund or a different model £420 for a monitor with a known issue is unacceptable.
So after getting Samsungs number the first person i spoke to said he doesn't care who said what on the forums even if people had returned them because of the issue, if Samsung hasn't made the issue public basicly its just a repair:mad:
At this point i said what do you want me to do just keep returning every 2 weeks until im out of warranty?
He still wouldn't budge i asked to speak someone else they put me through to customer services that were far more polite but still got nowhere apart from offering me a repair on an issue that can't be fixed.
So Samsung how you get away with ripping people off with faulty goods amazes me.
£420 the most exspensive part of my system but its "acceptable" to have these issues.

DP can be extremely picky sometimes about cable length and quality at 1080p 120Hz - I found with my BenQ the cheap and cheerful 2.5m DP cable I had would result in black screens and display timeouts quite often unless I dropped back to 60Hz - buying a better quality 1.8m cable completely fixed it. Given the known issues with the Samsung it probably won't help buy might be worth a try.

Hi yeah thanks for the reply i have bought 4 over the last year to no avail, i deff wouldn't buy a monitor that only option was DP for 120hz the dearer model the 950 had DVI but it was deare and i did'nt like the look of it.
I see Overclockers don't sell a Samsung 120hz model now.

I had the same monitor and similar issues.
I had multiple monitors and to resolve the issues with the display going black i would just use the "windows+P" key to change between displays. Meant i never had to restart the computer to get the monitor working again, and would only take 10 seconds to get the monitor working again.

Brilliant monitor, the pros outweigh the cons imo.

All of Samsung's SA750, SA700 and SA950 models have been discontinued with no current known replacement. I know Samsung engineers are/were aware of the issue, can't say that changes how their customer service advisers operate though. I'm sorry to hear you've had such a rough ride with it Borley. If you've tried various different cables and you've sent it back to Samsung several times for a 'fix' there isn't really much else you can do.

I have used this monitor without such problems for a long time now on a Gigabyte Windforce Radeon 7950. I get this very occasionally hen Windows starts up. I'm now running Windows 8 and haven't had an issue once, but I haven't been running it long enough to say whether this makes an actual difference. When it does happen I simply turn the monitor off then on again and all is well. If it happened frequently it would be very annoying to say the least.

Yeah thanks guys for the replies, I see what you are saying that the pros outweigh the cons which it did when I got the res issue message, but now they don't I just don't see why people should put up with issues with such an expensive item.
Samsung are just dismissing there is a problem! And there doesn't seem to be many monitors 120hz aimed at AMD cards they all seem to be aimed at nvidia with vision.
Thanks guys anyway

Square you have the 950 which has DVI for 120hz so you wouldn't have the problem with the 750 it has only DP for 120hz or HDMI for 60hz. S0 yes if i spent even more money i could have had a 950 but i also preferred the design of the 750.
Thanks anyway

This is the exact reason I went 950 instead of 750 when they was both released!

950 has been flawless for me, my friend had same probs as u with 750 but it randomly stopped doing it but he got rid of it when new asus came out....

Hope u get it sorted!

Hey what new Asus is he using as most monitors are aimed at NVidia so they have Vision impemented.
Thanks

I have the 750 also, i get it now and then like pcm2 turn it off and on sorts it, ive had this monitor over a year now and i rekon its happened about 10 times mostly coming out of sleep

If you can find enough instances of it doing this, the sales of goods act covers you under "inherent fault". But yor covered either way as you got 5 years to claim if faulty. You just know how to play the game

Unfortuantly i would say i get that more than that every couple of weeks:(

Hi thanks, as you can tell a few people have had it and i remember at the time, aprrox middle of last year a fair few people returned them and the fact Samsung ended the line and didn't replace them tells speaks volumes to me.
Thanks

Suppose this is a lessen learnt not to be fobbed off with go deal with manufacturer instead of retailer regardless of how many days after purchase. As long as still within one year.

Wow I thought it was jus my monitor that had issues!!

I've got the 23" model and quiet often it goes blank, or display not optimal blurb.

I have to power off the PC risking losing data in the process!

Can be as bad as 5 times per day at any point when the PC is on inc on the post screen.

I was going to look for a firmware update?

or bin it and find a nice IPS Panel.

I really love it for games etc.. 120hz is lush but if you had a car that cuts out every day on you, you'd soon chop it in!

Shame on you Samsung.

Is it just 12 months warranty on these things?

Cost me £350 ish quid just over a year ago :(
