i7 3770k or gtx 670 sli

Setter you have only just upgraded!

670 sli will get you 70% gpu usage I reckon on BF3 with your chip, although 4.5Mhz is good, it isn't gonna set the world alight. So maybe 40% increase in FPS. Your minimums will still be rubbish though. Didn't we talk about this before when we were both on i7 920s? You had HT and I didn't cause of stability issues with my C stepping?

I'd do that first and get some value out of your 3570.

Then I'd be tempted to move on to x79 - x99 like I have in a years time (ivy-e will be out and settled in). Unbelievable platform. And none of this consumer grade crap about having an IGP built in. :-)

Depends on the resale of the 3570k of course...but I cannot image it being good.

Went with the 670 sli option guys. Purchased one on members market. Ill see how they perform with the 3570k in the meantime. Then drop a 3770k into the system. Read a review of the haswell 4770k, not that much of an improvement over the current ib equivalent. Should be able to recoup a few quid by selling the current chip on.

Good plan. Or go x79-x99 ;-)

I can get close to 95% utilisation across the 2 GPU within BF3 quit a bit of the time, still drops to 70% utilisation a good amount though. Never really seen the minimums below 70fps unless I happen to be the target of multiple tanks, jets & granades!!!

My driver for the upgrade on CPU was Crysis 3. It really wants freq and threads. Plays superb now!

Will do mate, with the old 920 and gtx 470 sli i had a constant 99% gpu utilisation in bf3. Ive heard that crysis 3 does indeed like more threads, something i suspect will become more common with future games. A secondhand 3770k should make for a nice improvement. Id even be prepared to go for a delidded proven clocker. I suspect there will be a few popping up on members market due to those who decide they must have haswell.
