Electric showers - can this cable support ~10kW?

I don't know what sort of sparky cert's you have... But you are both talking a pile of ****...

No one can tell from that picture alone that it is 6mm or 10mm T+E for certain...

And I didn't say for certain that it was 10mm². I said the construction makes it look like 10mm². You even quoted that bit. I also suggested looking on the cable for the size marking.

Oh, and the fact that it's larger than the adjacent 15mm compression fitting also gave me an inkling that it was 10mm², but again I still wouldn't say for certain as perspective could have been tricking me.

* Just to add, if there is no DP switch (Pull cord type inside the bathroom/switch outside the bathroom), This will fail inspection. Never mind testing. You can't go straight from the circuit breaker to the shower like that, it's against 17th ED regs.

There is a pull cord switch inside the bathroom. That's what I was getting at with the 'isolator switch' reference in the op.

Anyway cheers all. I'll measure the insulation tomorrow and report back.

Been hunting around and there aren't that many electric showers that have right side water and power :/.

It probably doesn't annoy anyone else, but I hate seeing insulation just torn off using what looks like wire cutters. I bet what remains of that earth lead wasn't covered either.
Industrial cabinets are wired to perfection with the proper tools used for each stage, domestic wiring always looks like it was done by spoon wielding monkeys in the five minutes before going home.

Couldn't agree more, & the times I no earth sleeving use, nothing surprises me now.
I noticed the cable has also been nicked further up as well.

Got a kitchen light here that flickered when you walk across bathroom floor.
Bit of a job getting to the problem, ceiling rose only contain one piece of t&e, after some hunting I found no junction box but a bunch of connector strips wire together & taped up, got a photo somewhere.

Couldn't get to it from above, ended up cutting a hole in the ceiling.:(

Sounds like the tool that wired this place.
