Sub 50min 10k in 3 weeks? Advice needed!

Thanks!

Went out to do a fast 2 miles as it was late, but decided to keep on it when I felt good and went for a fast 5k.

I managed a 22:47!! 7:20 a mile! Took a minute of my previous best. and was very consistant across the whole distance too.

Going to take a rest day, then try a fast 10k. Might try to fit one more fast 10k after that. before tapering down on the last week :)

10k just completed this morning.
51.43

Mis-read a sign and ended up in a boggy field. Had to stop the watch after about 20 seconds, re-trace my steps and head off again in another direction.

I think this (combined with stopping to cross a busy road) cost me about 20 seconds, maybe more :(

Still, i now know a decent route and should not have that problem again.

9 days till the event, so will probably not do another 10k until then. Couple more fast 5ks in the next week perhaps, then race time!

10k race in the morning!

Played cricket today though and 45 overs of wicket keeping has taken its to on my quads. So had an ice bath when I got in, seems to have taken the edge off :)

Hoping the race day adrenaline and other runners will spur me on!

Whats this garmin tracker thing you use malt ?

I start my training tomorrow and this gadget looks good for keeping stats.

Thanks guys!

Was 10th in my age group, was just trying to hang onto the coat tails of faster runners as they overtook, seemed to help keep me going.
I think I can go faster, had a good sprint in me at the end.
I think I have to set 47 as my target now and find another local event to use as a target :)

Really enjoyed this little challenge :D

The legs are a bit sore today, going to do a bit of a recovery jog tonight, just 2-3k to get them moving again :)

Looking to enter another middle of next month, and try to get down to a 47min time. I am debating seeing if I can get down to 40ish before the end of the year :D

Friend of mine finished 4th in 40:30!! We were in the same hockey team and on the same fitness plan before I broke my ankle :(

You ran a sub 50 minute 10k and you're still not satisfied? Sounds like you've caught the bug ;)

I've entered the local 10k event in October this year, I'm hoping to replicate your recent success in getting round in under 50 minutes. My fastest so far is 54:30, so I'm not too far off...

Haha, I am just a sucker for competition!
I need targets to beat to feel like i am achieving anything. I have never been able to just go running for the sake of it. I am very much target driven it would seem!

I am looking for the plan I am going to use to get down to a 47min time :D I think going to a high 47 should be quite simple, but low 47s might take some more time :(

well done

Thanks!
