Buying the same car twice...anyone else?

Came to my senses thanks to heavy influence from this thread (good points throughout - and crazy decision from me slightly!). Cancelled the order, BMW were nice enough to refund the deposit.

May just stick it out with the manual for a while, see how it goes with the new commute for a while....

A guy I work with did something similar. I always called him a poof for driving around in an auto so when replacing his E46 330i he decided to get an E92 E330i manual. Hated it after a month so traded it in for an E92 330i auto. Most things spec wise were the same except the new car was black whereas the old was silver, or vice versa, can't remember now.

I did ask how much the swap over cost him but he refused to comment. He then went to replace the E92 330i with the intention of getting a 335i but came back from the dealership with a brand new 325i. Said something about the deal being too good to miss.

I replaced my old Accord with an Accord although it was a newer generation. I suppose the bottom line is if the car gives you trouble free motoring why vary?

I owned this twice:-

Yep, really have fun with my SLK. Would happily stick to the same when mine eventually needs changing.

Not really sure changing it for the newer model counts though, thats fairly understandable if you like the car. I have random ideas about next car all the time but I guess what will really happen is that when mine eventually does need replacing i'll replace it with the newest 5 Series I can afford, I don't really see this as buying the same car twice though - they are 2 generations apart after all.

Came to my senses....awaiting the 4.

Appreciate your points :p

You drive a manual and commute on the M25? looooool

Doesn't really apply now it's lighter out but at least it's (potentially) one less driver stopped with their brake lights glaring into my retinas at night when we're queued up and clearly aware the car in front is stopped :p

I bought a Jag XF 3.0DS traded that 9 months later for a Jag XFR and then 6 months later that against a Facelift Jag XF 3.0DS.

Lost count but I think in the past I had 5 Citroen Saxo's, 3 Citroen Xsara's, 3 Peugeot 106's and 2 Peugeot 406's. If anything happens to my Peugeot 205, I'll buy another too.

Says more about old french cars more than anything I suppose, similar to that Rover idiot on here :p
