£1200 gameing pc. help me choose?

Well Intel are releasing their new socket (1150) and their new line of CPU's (codename Haswell) in the next couple of weeks as the replacement for socket 1155 and Ivybridge, so it would be worth your while to wait for those to see what you could get with your money.

Intel's 'enthusiast' socket (2011) is not due to be replaced yet, so if you have to buy now, I would be inclined to go with that.

Here is something I knocked up quickly, but wait for suggestions from other members as well of course. :)

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i7-3820 3.60GHz (Sandybridge-E) Socket LGA2011 Processor - Retail £259.99

*edit* I'm not sure if the left hand memory modules would fit under the radiator of the watercooler in your case.

I can wait to see the new line of CPU's, i have done a build which has nothing the same as this one is it okay to post ************ on this to show you?

Acme, I'd be inclined to go for an i5, and then also go for a good air cooler like the Phanteks.

A Haswell i5 when they are released sure, but I don't see the point of buying into a dead socket (1155) when the new one is just around the corner. :p

This is what i built and i already have the ssd which i was going to just put the operateing system on. can get more ssd's at a later date.

It looks alright, I see you have gone with a 3770K. I would wait for Haswell rather than buying into Ivybridge as I said :)

Also you should delete that link too hehe, as there are various competitors on display when you click it :p

Its a pain, but its just the nature of these forums being associated with a major PC component retailer. We suggest components from the Overclockers UK store. It's up to you where you order them from of course. (though I recommend OcUK ;))
