My trusty HX520 did the pop of death this morning. I've logged a case on Corsairs website but at the mo I can't remember who or when I got this so just in case the serial no isn't enough to determine if the PSU is in warranty what do the forum masses recommend?

System is as per my sig and I'd be looking for a modular unit once again to help with cable management.

Thanks for the replies, found the receipt and Corsair have processed the RMA so just need to return it to them. Does anybody know what would happen in this case where the HX520 is no longer available or do they have a barn full of these stored away? Also I'm going to post the PSU tomorrow, so should hopefully with them the day after so how long does it take for them to turn it around?

I've using an old spare Enermax PSU in the interim but it's doing strange things. It is an old style PSU with a 20 pin connector and only a 4 pin extra mobo voltage connector but when plugged in the mobo refuses to boot the PSU up, so pressing the power button on the case does nothing. Hot wiring the PSU proves that the PSU is working. What I've had to do is to permanently hot wire the PSU, when you then press the power button the PC then boots.

Not seen this type of behaviour before, has anybody come across this before?

They will most likely give you an equivilent Psu if they no longer stock your model. Also, did you arrange for them to send a courier to pick up your Psu?

As Idleman has said, they send you an equivalent PSU. My HX520 died the same way in January 2011 and I received a replacement HX650.

Not arranged anything like that, to be honest I just want to get it to them ASAP so that I can get a replacement as soon so will get it posted tomorrow.

From the pics of the HX650 the cables look different so did they also send you out some cables?

Yes. The cables are included. You receive a new and sealed product - exactly the same as what you'd get if you bought it online.

I think HX520 cables are the same as the HX650 as I don't remember changing the cables.

Did you guys send just the main PSU unit or did you have to send all the cables? Looking at their RMA site it's not clear what should be sent back? I'm also going to see if I can get my RMA changed to an advanced RMA so that I can have the replacement sent out ASAP.

Save yourself some money and get them to send a courier out to pick it up, other wise it is going to cost you £30+ to post to the Netherlands.

I know I should have arranged for them to pick it up but I honestly couldn't be bothered as that would have possibly delayed the RMA, so shipped the PSU to them yesterday, cost around £20.

All made sense until I realised that their Advanced RMA is applicable to the UK where they ship the replacement to you first. So I've now upgraded my RMA to this and they've said that a HX650 is winging it's way to me. So I could have arranged things but too late now.

What is required for them to pay for collection?

I recently found my invoice for the hx620w psu that died a month or so ago. Feb 2008, so technically the 5 year warranty has expired. I filled in the rma form to see if they will be replaced, but wont be to annoyed if they don't as it may be cheeky to even ask on my part. I didn't expect it to die more or less as soon as the warranty was up though. ;)

Well my replacement PSU a HX650 arrived yesterday and I got it installed today. What a pain just installing just the PSU is, couldn't get the cables as tidy as before when I did a new install so just left it in the end.

The cables are also different to my old HX520 in that the extra cables for the SATA and molex were flat type connectors on the old but are now more like the vid card connectors.
