Who's skipping the 7xx series then ?

I think you misunderstood the original post you replied too.

When I said

The "re-branded cards with a slight performance boost and lower price" bit was aimed at the 680-770 re-brand, the bit after the full stop about the "cut down Titan" was separate, of course thats going to have a heafty price tag, but most likely one in between 680/Titan in line with its performance.

-------------------------

According to http://www.bit-tech.net/ the 8800GTS 512MB launched at $369.99 and the 9800GTX 512MB rebrand was $299, by the time the 512MB GTS250 launched at $129 the 9800GTX+ 512MB it was rebranded from was $149.

What you actually need to look at is what a 8800gts 512 was selling for before the 9800gtx released. The 8800gts 512mb and 9800gtx could be bought at the same time. Guess which one was a good bit cheaper. You guessed it the 8800gts. The 9800gtx was basically a touch faster because of clocks. Many people around the time were complaining as nvidia released the same chip with a different name pretty much and priced it more. We are probably looking at the same scenario with the gtx770/gtx680 being on the market at the same time with the gtx770 being a little faster and costing a little more. I could be wrong and hope i am.

Nope GTX 780 with proper VRM unlike Titan should be great for benching!!! If it scales with volts like Titan 1800mhz LN2 or around that should well be possible!!!

I'm not paying £500.00 or even close to, in my opinion silly money to spend on single GPU card just for gaming at 1920x1080 :)

I'd consider the 770 if the price was around £300.00, which is highly unlikely.

The 770 almost seems like a way to keep the 'GTX 680' priced high artificially..

I.e rebrand the 680, overclock it and keep selling at high price point over a year after launch..

Sneaky Sneaky :D

The smart money will be on the GTX 760 Ti. (Hopefully) Let's see where Nvidia price it :p.

You work for OCUK, just between you and me

What is the price of the GTX 780 going to be

I won't tell anyone honest.:D

Please send payment to.

nah j/k I don't know the launch price

It's a benchmarkers card so I wouldn't expect gamers to be happy with the price.

Just curious..

What would represent better value, An Nvidia Titan at £769.99. or a GTX 780 at £550? (rumored launch price)

The gtx780 will easily be better value than titan. It should be within 10% slower at stock and many think it will overclock better. If it does overclock much better than titan, gtx780 max oc speeds could have the performance gap around 5% to a max oc titan.

Yeah, Seen various price deals on some really good cards both AMD and Nvidia. Having to restrain myself from pulling the trigger on a few deals I have seen :p.. Only a few more days to wait to see UK prices for the 7XX series..

What I would really like is GTX 780 SLI, but I think I may settle with GTX 760 Ti SLI.

All depends on the price..

Where the GTX 780 is starting from a higher stock clock the performance gap between it and a Titan could be as close as 5%

Having said that the above could also limit it more with overclocking headroom.

perhaps better option - a cheap used Titan if the 780s are good clockers ...

I'm sticking to my 6970's Crossfire... wont upgrade until the next true big jump... I am squeezing as much power from my 6970 to last me until the next large upgrade currently overclocking them...
