The worst service you've ever received?

Easy Van rental was my worst.

Paid for a Van rental and when I tried to collect it had been double booked and already gone. As I booked over the phone I had to call the next to useless helpline to try and get a refund which never happened. In the end I called my card company who dealt with the refund, Easy van told them that I had had the van and was a happy customer.

It took over 8 months to get my money back.

Seems odd that all terrible service comes from energy and service companies, like phone and banks. Think it must be the sheer number of customers they can't handle it.

No Competitors!
Purchased a graphics card that was advertised with a waterblock in the image and in the description, card arrived with the stock cooler.
Awhile later the card dies and I RMA it to them, takes them 40 days just to look at it with me having to pester them for updates, no reply until I use their public forum.

Then the replacement card dies and I again have to RMA it, this time it took them 34 days (still longer than their maximum stated turnaround of 28 days), they explain to me that they don't have a replacement card in stock and try and fob me off with a card that's worth substantially less, I refuse and they then offer me a much better card... (apparently the first card they offered me was a mistake...).
They then realize they do have a exact replacement card in stock and send it out.

Very rude with their customers
They don't meet the expectations they state
They obviously don't update or take much care in their website
They don't bother to update their customers unless you complain on their forum
They try and fob you off.

Awful.

Santander , far too long to list all the problems but I ended up overpaying the credit card by 2p and they have been sending me statements for the last 4 years every month costing them money. I deem it a small victory.

Orange are an utterly hideous shower of brown rain.

I had 40 quid or so in my phone fund account, went into one of their high street shops to get a new phone and paid a little more towards it myself, but was forced to put £10 credit on it, because "that's the policy". I had the intention of moving to a SIM only deal for £15/month, this gave me 300 mins, 100MB of data and unlimited texts, but the girl said I can have an extra 500MB for £5, which I opted to do so my bill would be a minimum of £20 per month.

First bill comes through for almost £200.. internet's been charged to me at £4/MB over my 100MB allowance, even though I'd paid for a total of 600MB in my deal. Even in the contract the box is ticked with "500MB internet bundle for £5". Phone up CS, spend ages on the phone to be told "something went wrong with the system, but as a gesture of goodwill we have now added the 500MB bundle to your account and will offer you £25 off the bill". Told them to add the bundle but they can shove the offer of £25, I'll pay what I owe minus the internet charges and you can knock the lot off.

TWENTY FIVE QUID?! You overcharged me by almost £170 in the first month alone! I'd phoned the bank etc a few times so it should only have been about £30. Joke. Second month's bill comes through: balance carried over plus the current months bill of almost £400. Ok, this is getting silly. Phone CS again to be told "the guy you spoke to last time didn't tick the box for your internet bundle", so I said I assume you'll knock all the extra charges off the bill then? "No, you have to pay that." But I've now asked for it TWICE and not recieved a service I asked for, therefore should not be billed for. "If you don't pay, we'll cut you off". Fine, do that.

Next month's bill comes through and it's now totalled almost £500. Shouting match between me and their daft CS monkeys results in them cutting the line off until the full balance is paid. Sent them a copy of the contract with the inclusive internet in it, only for them to reply "your account is now with Moorcroft debt collection agency".

Get a letter from Moorcroft, saying the balance is £846. Told them to bugger off and also sent them a copy of the contract. Cheeky sods added a fee for their "services", and added 9 months x £20 which was the remainder of the contract. They ignore, send a letter with BIG ANGRY RED WRITING TRYING TO SCARE ME INTO PAYING on it, but I wouldn't budge until someone used their common sense. I paid everything I correctly owed in chargeable calls etc so all that was owed was the excess internet data charges that should have been inclusive anyway. After many months of letter tennis with Moorcroft and Orange, including me threatening to take them to court for breach of contract and excessive harassment, Orange finally acknowledged they were incorrect and closed the account without any further payments. Never again will I use them.

British Gas. Scumbags.

On two seperate occasions tried to convince the Mrs that we needed a complete system change as the pipes were 'too small'.

Also they keep calling me trying to get me to go back to them even though i've told them to go to hell.

Virgin are a bit of a joke. Hey we're doubling everyone's broadband speed for free!!! aren't we amazing! p.s. we're increasing your bill from next month for no reason whatsoever...but it's not linked to the free speed increase you didn't ask for. It's just cos we fancy having some more cash.

Virgin media customer support...theyre great if you want to take out/upgrade your service with them..but their staff are poorly trained..you speak to one person they give you one price, you then speak to another and the price has changed to more.
They don't know what they're doing!

I left them just over a quid in an account a few years ago, it's taken them 3 years to stop sending me statements so I like that sort of moral victory.

Buy from them all the time, never had a problem unlike overclockers and other places. There customer service with me has been brilliant too, ive taken many things into the store and they have changed them there and then with no hassle. So yeah IMO they are the best.

Weird that OCuk forums delete any thread or post talking about their competition ....

unless the posts are complaining about said competition ?

Probably today.

I was booking a hotel for work meetings (we use some agency go between place) and I booked somewhere. Called back an hour later to cancel and rebook somewhere else because the meeting location changed.

The woman sighed loudly down the phone at me, gave me short shrift before hanging up and then didn't bother sending me a confirmation so I have no idea if I actually have a hotel room. Stupid witch, you would think I had actually done something wrong. going to skip their company now (will only cost them a few grand a year but meh) and go direct.

How on earth can they get away with that?! If you did a charge back against a brick and mortars shop in town, they wouldn't come round your house and take away anything else you may have paid for in the past!

because with steam/origin you don't buy games, you're buying a temporary subscription to the game/their service.
