Moore Tornado, NOW, live chaser footage

What boggles my mind is that Moore was devastated by an F5 in 1999 - yet the school didn't have a proper shelter! The "safe" area was a hallway, ffs  Why doesn't every school in Tornado Alley have a concrete bunker underneath?!?!

It's no good reason of course but I heard something like it's never been hit in over 50 years until now.

Early estimates say it was at least an F4 just over a mile wide. Could be upgraded though....and I've seen some reports saying over 2 miles wide!

It is crazy isn't it? You really cannot comprehend what it would be like for it to happen here. Hope as many people make it out of this unscathed as possible :(

It passed right in front of one of the chasers I was following on their for about 3 minutes. It was huge.

It was one of the supercells on the northern edge of the front and produced the classic "hook echo":

Devastating really, because Moore got hit in 1999, which sparked the famous Reed Timmer footage of cowering underneath an underpass.

How do you actually get a video up from a chaser? I went on the first link in the thread, and there was the map with pins. Is it just my browser mucking about? (Waterfox)

Yeah click the red pins. Its basically Reed Timmers website which collates a lot of chasers streams and you can overlay a very crude radar onto it aswell.

Its still a VERY dangerous situation with the supercells still fragmented and not forming the squall. The cell near Brownwood, TX is turning into a classic supercell and looks to be trying to form a hook on the SW side. That could be one of the next most dangerous areas, maybe even affecting Dallas if it continues in this strength.

Unusual these systems firing off this early in the afternoon.

The cell near Witchita Falls also is shaping up to look extremely dangerous.

I am watching the one where the guy is parked up outside (just to the west) of Ardmore. Those clouds look ominous! Woah! The lightning going off too :s Time to run the other way. Just got really windy also!

Looks like a small inflow band was visible. Storm still seems to have power, but I did start seeing some clouds that perhaps looked like mamatus...
