Media HTPC spec please

I've run media PC's using a Pentium G620 and a Trinity A4. The graphics and media playback are vastly superior with the AMD chip. For a HTPC build without a separate graphics card a Trinity build is definitely the way to go.

I would say go for the Trinity as well, and wouldn't bother with an ssd either.
Storage is king on an HTPC and wasting money on a ssd isn't something i would do in this case.

I run a HTPC on a C2D e8400 4gb generic ram and a HD5770 graphics card, you really don't need a high spec at all for a HTPC - for cheap as chips, buy used older parts. You could even get away with a lower spec graphics card, just make sure it supports Dolby DTS over HDMI, if you're plugging into an amp. The goal I would say it go lower power / silent and it'll even do you as a server. I agree with troops, no need for SSD either.

You (like me) might start thinking amount doing a bit of gaming after a while, depending on your setup - I have been known to fire up Command and Conquer on my projector for laffs in which case, for wireless keyboard and mouse, go bluetooth.

So, going to go with the Trinity.

What keyboard/mouse do I need to get? Or do I get a remote for it?

I'm going to be using XBMC.

So that stuff has been bought.

I've also bought two 3TB drives to sit in my PC, and one of the ones spare will go into the HTPC. Think I have two 640GB, a 1TB and a 2TB sat in there so will probably put the aging 640GB in the HTPC and use the other as a backup drive.
