Moore Tornado, NOW, live chaser footage

This was one of the storm chasers I tuned into last night and saw this horrendous footage live when they were parked up just south as it pass through 19th street area in Moore.

There is another strong tornado threat today, starting early afternoon with storms likely to fire in north east TX and south west AS.

And massive CAPE values for about 9 hours from now:

Along with low level helicity:

And wind shear present in the probable affected area:

:( hope not, after seeing the devastation caused yesterday the last thing they need is another huge tornado.

We have to thank god for keeping us safe..

Don't forget to thank him for the huge ****ing Tornado he sent you either.

I came to late to see the tornado hit but the aftermath was devastating. Horrible scenes but it is at times like that when you realise how genuinely good most people are. The tornado chasers stopping to help people, the families digging randoms out of rubble, the camera crew and reporters stopping work to help with relief efforts. All little things but it is heartening to see humanity still does rear its head when needed.

At times like this, I'm glad to live in an area of the world mostly free from massive natural disasters like this.

It makes you think doesn't it.

EVERY YEAR these people who live in the mid-west states run the gauntlet of the spring storms. It would constantly weigh on my mind every April/May.

That's what makes me respect the stormchasers even more, the likes of Reed Timmer who year after year puts himself inside these twisters to capture scientific data which in the long run will hopefully mean much earlier warnings and more lives saved. He has a kickstarter project going for his own documentary, I've backed it.

Tragic, especially the kids drowning in the wreckage of their school.

It makes you wonder, at what point do people stop rebuilding somewhere like this? I have relatives in Florida, and it seems at time that they're almost constantly reeling in the aftermath of the annual hurricanes. It seems just as they get everything sorted from the last, another rolls right around and inflicts yet more damage, knocking them right back to square one.

not sure if this works, but this picture really makes you sit up and think. Imagine if this was your life now literally turned upside down

Yes, I live in the USA and often travel to the midwest. Actually I was in Georgia last week, and was thinking, hopefully i don't get hit by a tornado. Then i go to California, and think, I hope this hotel doesn't end up on my lap overnight. I personally live on the coast in Florida, and between June 1st to Nov 31st I have to worry about a hurricane coming ashore and taking EVERYTHING away. It'll eventually happen, but hopefully not in my lifetime. Which is what these people that live in Oklahoma & San Fran say to themselves, yes its going to happen, but hopefully not in my lifetime.

Oh man thats a bad *** tornado right there !!!!

But one thing i dont understand, why arent they build reinforced concrete houses? they get these tornadoes every year so why dont they build something that can withstand a lot better these forces?

This is horrible, when I stopped following the coverage last night they were still hopeful of saving the children in the school, to hear that it's now just a recovery operation is absolutely heartbreaking. RIP. :(

Not sure if this is true but I read it was cheaper to build out of wood and take the risk than ship concrete to those areas and build using that. All came down to cost of insurance bascially.

America is a HUGE and very spread out place. Chances are you're not going to get hit. Occasionally you do. Things are built to code in FL to withstand upto a Cat3 hurricane. The newer the home, the better the code.. But nothing, is going to stop an EF4 or EF5 tornado, nor will it stop a storm surge. You're looking at concrete with steel girder hospitals being completely ripped to shreds in those pics. There's only so much you can do.
