Who's skipping the 7xx series then ?

Depends on the price. Anyhow I'm upgrading to a nVidia GFX with more than 2GB ram, so it might be 3x GTX 670 4GB cards I'll be getting for the upcoming 2560x1440p screen.

Personally going to wait out the new 9000series as even at 1440p most games only cause the gpu problems with obscene amounts of AA (or variant).

Yea? well im waiting for the 10000 series as even at 1080p most games run at medium to high with my Ye'olde 5850 :p

well most the games i like to play :D then i really have got my moneys worth

I know your joking :P but I would guess that the 9000 series will be the end of "HD" and it will kick off again with a new system like when they reached 9*** last time (and transitioned to X*** then X1*** before launching the HD line).

I remember getting a x series had the daftest name x850 XTPE, was like they got bored of numbers and just started planting lots of letters on the end.

Ill be sticking with my 7950 maybe going xfire if a game i like wont run smoothly.

The X series was the 10 series. X is 10 in Roman numerals, so the X850 was the 10850.

The random numbers did actually have meaning to some degree. XT was rather meaningless in its actual meaning (it didn't stand for anything as far as I know) it was just used to denote to top chip.

PE however did mean something, and that was "platinum edition" which would be akin to nVidia's Ultra moniker.

Personally I see no point for me at the moment, I did have two 680's in my system when I was gaming at 2560 x 1440, but since going back to a 3d 120hz monitor one is more than enough. I'm still being able to play with max settings with a very reasonable fps, even on the latest releases.

I'm waiting to see what Maxwell has to offer :).

Still kinda hoping my current 670 SLI might be it for me for pc gaming, and just stick with next gen consoles. Will see though.

Seem to have far less time for gaming unfortunately, so I think the simplicity of console will be a better way to get my money's worth.

670s in SLI
Yep, I'll be skipping 7 series & maybe even 8 series.

Like you I cant think of anything current or coming that sli 670s arnt destroying at 1080 especially clocked and under water. In fact theres nothing coming cpu or gpu wise in the next 18 months that im going to consider

Since my 470 have gone Amd, my 7950 does everything I need and will do for some time, I don't even OC it. Gone right off Nvidia to be honest, last straw methinks. :(

I bought my card at a good time, £300... Everything is going smoothly for my next upgrade when the new AMD cards are out.

I'm tempted to get a 780 to replace my 670. My 670 doesn't seem to like BF3/Crysis 3 and BSODs on me unless I down clock a little.

Is that really enough reason for a very exp. upgrade though?

A flimsy reason perhaps...

I'll probably end up waiting to see the price/performance. But if it's halfway between the 670/Titan I might be tempted. I'll more than likely end up changing my mind dozens of times between now and launch.

You need to be looking at why it is Blue screening and if you need to downclock your card, I would be looking to RMA. That certainly shouldn't be happening in any game.

Yes, a bit flimsy. But then again, we all know the pains of upgrade itch.

I know that thought process well, i'm umming and ahhing over a small upgrade myself 7850>7950. It'll cost me £100ish, but for that i'll get 4 games I don't own and want to play.

Your upgrade requires a bit more thought though, and money!

:)
