How do I get market price per share?

This is driving me bonkers. Something so simple is eluding me!

I need to do some ratios which requires market price per share.


Say my

CAPITAL & RESERVES
ordinary share capital (£2 shares) 4,000
retained earnings

Is it simply profit AFTER tax divided by ordinary share capital (in this case 4,000)

Or have I completely lost my mind?!

You need a value for the company first.

Where do I get the value from the profit or loss account or the balance sheet?

Net assets is a good first step, assuming a going concern. Then it depends on what you've learnt.

I would suggest that you do the same. Try to get a few hours of sleep if poss! That's the best advice I can give.

Net Income - Prefered Dividends/no of Common Shares Outstanding
