over 3000 miles covered in my ~6 months of owning my bike i can honestly say i can just SEE bad drivers and i kinda got a 6th sense where i know what they will do and where they will turn, this is something you learn over the time.. the driver behavior on the road and what can happen next.

i am in no way saying that i can avoid every accident all im saying is that i've seen and experienced a lot and in a way i sense what might happen when i see a stupid driver on the road(and trust me they stand out like a sore thumb)
 
The woman is stupid and definitely should have stopped (as I hope most people would!).

But, on the other hand, I've seen so many cyclists do silly things and be a general nuisance, I have little sympathy I'm afraid :p :D

Used to cycle to work - dont any more for a number of reasons.

1. Hate from drivers

2. Hate from pedestrians.

3. I want to live


Its not relaxing because you are basically throwing dice everyday to see whether you will encounter a **** driver. Of course a slight scrape between 2 cars isnt too bad but a slight bump with a cyclist v car = serious injury or death to the cyclist. So no thanks.

Problem with the UK is....

**** roads not fit for purpose for all road users

**** pavements not fit for purpose of all pavement users.

Yeah im one of those former cyclists who was of the opinion that part of the pavement or ROAD (where practical) should basically be sectioned for cycle users only. And other vehicles should not be allowed to enter.

I remember after my "accident" (if you call being run off the road by a 24 tonne artic lorry an accident haha) on the road i was on the pavement for a short time cycling before giving up cycling...the amount of hate from pedestrians was unbelievable.

Usually the bile was from folk who had nothing better to do except throw verbal abuse at you...why because you are an easy target. With a modicum of common sense a cyclist can very safely cycle on pavements (given space)

Life is way too short to battle and fight muppets constantly over stupid nonsensical crap like this...

Exactly. It's all about the affect on her, and paints her as a victim, how her tweet was blown out of proportion.

It's like the incident was just a case of someone saying something stupid on twitter that they now regret, rather than it being about her reckless driving nearly killing someone.
 
I know the guy in passing who she hit and hes a nice guy so I don't know if he will press charges against her. I really kind of hope he does after seeing her complete lack of remorse.
 
From what I've read he won't press charges. He said that even before he knew who it was he wasn't going to report it (because it would scare his girlfriend).

does it matter if he presses charges or not, she's admitted to a crime?
Surely you can't get away with a hit and run which had potential for fatal consequences just by having a Muppet not press charges?
or am i over-estimating the CPS here...
 
Yeah I don't think it matters what he says, a crime has (potentially) been committed. It'll be up to the prosecution services to decide if it's in the public interest to prosecute her.

And yeah, what a snivelling cow she comes across as in that interview.
 
What she's done is wrong but why do you all feel the need to basically bully her? FFS man, some of you here of grown men. Grow up. There have been numerous people who have taken their lives because of stuff like this. It's not right. Let the authorities deal with it behind closed doors; it does not concern any of you.

It concerns me, I don't want to go outside my house knowing that there is a cyclist killer on the loose.

Because she's the sort of person to knowingly knock a person off /over in a motor vehicle, drive off with out checking, then brag about. She could have killed the guy and didn't have the decency to admit fault and check the state of the person she hit, then to brag about it.
I hope she gets made an example off, she showed a lack of humanity when she drove off, so why should she have any compassion spared on her
