C64 - best 8-bit machine you can ever get, I had mine for 14 years until I got my first PC in 1997!

As for the music, lets see someone post a better track then this from an 8-bit machine.

My cousin's owned a C64....

Rob Hubbard is a god amongst men:

Playing on a dragon 64 at retro revival last weekend.

How comes nobody else ever did the arrow keys like they did ill never know.

Glove fit, easy to play ain't the word.

I had a Plus/4, I got mine bundled with a huge 5.25" floppy drive.
Spent ages writing database programmes to retrieve data from floppies

I seem to remember you pressed a key and a word processor appeared?
I should still have it somewhere if the last tenants haven't nicked all my stuff.

This chap on youtube makes great videos on old hardware and just posted the following vid about the old 5.25 disk drives for the Commodore Plus/4.

My *own* computers went ZX81, BBC B, Amiga 500, then into PCs starting with a 386SX20 (with an added 387, 4MB of RAM, and a 40MB HDD!!!).

However I was brought up with an electronic engineer dad, who got the computer bug early. We've had soo many machines, TRS-80 (models I and III), Dragon32s, a UK101 (kit computer, look it up, was awesome), various BBCs and Archie's, STs, then as the PC age started we embraced with some Elonex, Viglens, Amstrad (had the 1640, but also the PPC640 I think... proper luggable). At one point they were chucking out a mini-mainframe from my old mans work, so he brought it home and built it up in the lounge... that went down well!!

I had an Amstrad CPC 464 with colour monitor. It was one of the better 8-bit machines but unfortunately hampered by the lack of game development support and poor Spectrum/Commodore ports of games.

Some ports were good others not so.
Compare the Amstrad and Spectrum versions of Chase HQ to the C64 version ;)

The C64 version of Chase HQ was a stright port of the Spectrum version and was somehow even worse. It was one of the worst ports in history of the machine.

Massive dissapointment as it could have been great if made from the ground up. Chase HQ 2 on the C64 was a big step up but not great either as it was just a Turbo Outrun clone with guns

I've had...

BBC B
VIC20
Spectrum 48
Spectrum +2
Atari STE
Atari Falcon

I've recently began collecting old systems. Currently have a +2 with CF card reader and modded with a composite video output. Also have an Amiga A1200 with CF card reader. Looking for a good quality BBC B & Archimedes next.
