Right, as it's bank holiday and my company has decided to make everyone redundant, everyone is meeting up and getting their drink on.
I haven't been out in 2 years and haven't drank in that time either.

I need some advice from you guys, do I pre drink (is this the term these days?) go out sober, or plan C (if there is one)?

I'll be going out in Torquay, it's an evil partying capital. It's full of sun (not very much), Beaches, OAP's, terrible drinking establishments and more moose knuckles than you can shake a stick at.

Help me GD, I'm lost.

Just drink what you feel comfortable drinking, if you want to get smashed, get smashed. If you don't, don't.

Surely you know how to drink/not drink?

Edit:
If people are going out first to have a beer, join them. If not don't. I don't see where there could be any confusion.

Lol no drink in 2 years maybe best you drink when you're out then!

Also some good places to go in torquay now, try the new park lane or the strip club!

I know how to drink, I've been drinking since birth, but when it comes to alcohol I have to have a drink in my hand at all times, don't know why.

I liked park lane when I used to go out and I've been to the old strip club, but not the new one, Trents was my favourite place to go, I avoid clubs like the plague.

I don't know if there's any science to back it up but I find it much easier to handle my drink if I have a decent meal before going out.

That's because the food you've eaten soaks up the booze like a sponge and prevents it from being absorbed into the blood stream as quickly. If you keep drinking though it'll reach saturation and hit you all in one go.

Food doesn't soak up booze but it does delay how fast the stomach empties into the intestine - it has to finish breaking down the food in there before it can let it through, so the alcohol gets stuck with it.

Your stomach will still absorb alcohol through the lining though, so you'll still get drunk, just not as quickly.

Best food for this in my experience is a big pork pie - the mix of fats and meat/pastry take a long time for the stomach to break down enough to pass onto the intestines.

Other advice if you don't think you have much tolerance for alcohol is to drink halfs, if everyone else is drinking pints you will pace yourself with them and thus drink much more slowly. If I drink halfs with everyone else drinking halfs we all just drink at the usual pace and finish them in half the time!

Also don't be ashamed to get a coke, water or bitter lemon every other round or two, it'll reduce the amount of beer you take (as you'll be skipping one) and also help re-hydrate you to help avoid the hangover.

If you need an excuse just say you're taking your x to the z in the morning and need to drive.

You could have course just have coke all night and simply enjoy yourself. Crazy idea I know, but it seems you'd relax more that way.

I always used to have a soft drink every couple rounds and move onto them as the night quietened down, I avoid cider as it gives me the worst hangover imaginable!

I haven't found that a pint of water or aspirin before bed helped in the slightest, I just put up with the hangover and beeriod.

Jd is my drink of choice other than beer, I can/used to be able to drink it like water with little effect other than my wallet getting lighter quicker.
I used to start on the beer, then have a jd then beer, and repeat til I started on the pint of cokes, what does everyone else do/drink?
