favourite childhood video game!

I have fond memories of the first game I ever played on a home console (ignoring the atari pong et al) and that was Shadowfax on the Vic 20

But my favorite childhood videogame was Blood & Guts on the speccy! I actually tried to remake it in Little Big Planet at one point :)

That and Airwolf

God I'm old.

Odd job eddie on the spectrum. never managed to complete it though if i wasn't playing that then i was on treasure island also spectrum.

These few stick out in my memory:-

Jetpac : ZX Spectrum
C64 : Paradroid
Atari ST : Carrier Command
PC : Wing Commander II

just console games?

if that's the case, being as I haven't really had a long term console (except my wii) then I shall have to say Atari 2600 Asteroids

Tough to narrow it down to one but a couple of very important ones that I played on the Commodore 64: Bubble Bobble and Lords of Midnight.

Played both for many, many hours. Completed neither. Used to play 2 player Bubble Bobble with my Mum. Think we got to around level 80ish but couldn't get any further. Maybe one day we'll give it another shot. :p
Lords of Midnight was the first RPG of sorts I'd ever played. Must have only been 7 or 8 when I first started playing it but loved the sense of exploration. Never completed it though, even after returning to it on the PC decades later! Tried again with the iOS version and still haven't. :p Fun exploring though. :)

My first console was the Master System but I honestly can't say that I look back on it and consider any game I had for it to be a favourite or even anything I would want to play again.

So, sort-of childhood favourites:
Pokemon Red and Silver (Literally bought a GBC just so I could play Silver. Money well spent.)
Panzer Dragoon Saga (If I could choose only one, it would be this. The most memorable game from my childhood.)
Zelda Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask

Commander Keen.

If i had the quantity of games available to me then that I have now, then that game might not be top of my list. But, it was a simple and addictive game that my young mind could latch onto. It was fun.

Donkey kong country on the SNES. It felt like the future had arrived but it was still on current gen.

Queuing up in toys r us with my mum and brother on N64 release day, getting mario 64, and going home to play it. That was a game changing moment for video games for me. Unbelievable at the time and I don't think anything will ever match it for such a leap forward in pure gaming ever again.

Now it's about making your games consoles clean your pants whilst making coffee :(

1981 child here :(

Ghostbusters - C64:
I loved the movie and the game had many different sub games, ie: the city view, driving sucking the ghosts, and the zapping of ghosts. It was enjoyable.

Dune 2 - Amiga:
It was my first time for a proper RTS. Loved the base building and missions. Some got tactical and quite long.

Super Mario World - SNES:
Just the most perfect 2D platformer designed. All the secret areas, star road and the castle. Awesome levels and sheer number of levels with replayablilty. I don't think I'll ever see another platformer of such variety and quality grace my screen again.
