Really? Didn't realise that. How does the 780 compute performance compare to the 680?
its at 1/24DP32

and ouch, faster than a GTX 680 - on par with a GTX 480

However, you can't just blame Nvidia or Amd for their pricing, at the end of the day they are here to make money.
If you want prices to be normal again, people should simply stop buying their overpriced products whether they can afford it or not. No point in whining.
When people are willing to pay £1000 for a gpu they unwillingly inflate the prices.
After all wasn't Nvidia surprised that the Titan by far outsold the 690. What kind of message does that send to a profit seeking company?
I really cannot be arrsed to argue my case, or get into an argument where spoffle usually ends up getting banned for a few weeks either, I'll let you lot get on with it lol.
Happy days.![]()
Really, well I'll be the judge of that. I'll leave you to get all ratty and get banned like you usually do, because that is you to a tea.spoffle said:You don't have an argument to keep up with anyway.
Prices are based on USD.
Based on how much performance you get per $ you get better value @launch with a GTX780., whether those prices come down to current 680/7970 prices you'll have to wait and see...considering they always eventually come down which increases your PPD i don't see the problem here.
Better value compared to what? the GTX Titan? yes, because its not the 7970, that's better value
Yeah that's the ones i remember seeing. Looks good, and about what you would expect. No idea if it's real though.

Let you reply and have the last comment, because that's you to a T too - argumentative person.![]()
There is no argument here really, Nvidia's pricing is extracting the urine. No doubt about it at all.
I highly doubt the Titan's sales were primarily to gamers, it'll more like have been to people who wanted a cheap K20X.
nVidia and AMD are both solely responsible for their own prices and actions. ]
I think that they are pricing most consumers out of the market, but that won't change until people stop buying them and I think they may well have reached that point .Like most companies they take as much as they can ! for as long as they can get it/take it .
I think the problem is a mixture of AMD not releasing the 8xxx/9xxx series yet (whichever comes first, depending on rumours) and the fact that only a handful of games actually test a 680 and 7970 card to start with. I personally feel that when the consoles come out and ports improve in graphical quality to the PC, plus with the release of the AMD card to rival a titan, the market will again resume fairly normal prices. The pound has taken another beating against the dollar though, so I think that £450-£500 is going to be normal pricing from this point on.
I wouldn't mind the 8/9970 @ £450-£500 if its as fast or faster than the GTX Titan.
But I think the 20nm AMD GPU's will be significantly faster than the GTX Titan so £550 is fine.
The 7970 was the fastest single core GPU on launch, it cost £420
The GTX Titan was and remains the fastest single core GPU, on launch it cast £999 (£579 more than the 7970) and still costs £800.
The GTX 780, not even the fastest GPU and costs £550, £130 more than the 7970 cost when it was the fastest GPU, whats more the GTX 780 costs £250 more than the 7970 does today while only being 20 - 25% faster.
Nvidia's prices are absolutely ridicules, their prices are insulting. Nvidia are rip-off merchants and if I was an Nvidia customer I would be absolutely livid.
I cant see it being £840 like a titan tbh as it'll be released so much later than the titan. Us titan users get most of a year at the performance level for the price difference, which is fine for us. You pay a hefty premium for top level performance, especially when the gaming market has almost stagnated due to the imminent release of the new consoles.
edit: I doubt they'll be significantly faster as AMD don't make large die GPUs. I'd bet it would be within 10% if it was indeed faster.

Wait wait wait...
It's alright for AMD to price at "insane" levels if it beats the coveted Titan? This whole debacle is because some people feel the graphic card manufacturers have taken the proverbial because the prices have gone up...now it's ok to price that high if it takes the current performance crown![]()
