The 7970 was the fastest single core GPU on launch, it cost £420
The GTX Titan was and remains the fastest single core GPU on launch it cast £999 (£579 more than the 7970)
The GTX 780, not even the fastest GPU and costs £550, £130 more than the 7970 cost when it was the fastest GPU, whats more the GTX 780 costs £250 more than the 7970 does today while only being 20 - 25% faster.
Nvidia's prices are absolutely ridicules, their prices are insulting. Nvidia are rip-off merchants and if I was an Nvidia customer I would be absolutely livid.
You're using £ instead of $.
Titan was $999
780 was $650
7970 was $550
680 was $500.
You can't compare launch prices with 16 month old prices and call that bad value for money, when comparing launch vs launch the PPD is the same/slightly better in favour of the 780.
Another way to compare the 780 with the Titan is like a backwards 8800GTX vs 8800 GTX Ultra, only the Ultra came first
