Can anyone shed the light on which you prefer, for example , how it is reading emails or whether you need to increase the size of texts within your browser to read comfortably etc.

Sometimes smaller resolution whilst increasing browser size can be preferable too if it is marginal.

Thanks

Same here on all the monitors I use.
Diagro,So you prefer the 27" then side by side? I dont actually watch films, but mostly text work some of which hve no option to control the size but explorer is a good yardstick, i mostly use at 25%

Can I ask do those of you running 1440p or 1600p on 27" and 30" models do you leave the text size in windows 7/8 set to 100% or does that make it too small to read comfortably?

I think my text size is actually decreased slightly (mostly due to a fault in CryEngine 2 Sandbox Editor to do with windows text size) - and I have no trouble reading the text really.

Edit - I should add that I have a Dell UltraSharp U2713HM monitor (2560x1440p).

I find I have to zoom in on some websites but thats because I sit back in my chair and lay back.

When I sit up and do work norm size is fine.

I preferr my 30" for uni work and web browsing.
The 27" is good aswell but the extra virtual space on the 30 is nice.

I watch films on the 27" as it looks more natural.

Tbh they are as nice as each other, but the price is a massive factor... those extra 160 virtual pixels isnt woth the added £400~

Yes, it is weighing up the balance.
I was thinking of 2 monitors now having got my measuring tape out :-). How much zooming do you do for this page for example on the 27" and 30"?

Can you see the pixels on the 30"? Esp if they are not quite perfect. I dislike too pixelated screen and find 24" 1920x1080 a bit so. On the other hand I find 18.4 in at that resulution at 25% in explorer ok.
I am also using trinitron 21"crt but they are a bit different in the way they work as they are not pixel driven.

With a 27" I sit fairly close, under 1m, and have no issue reading OCUK forums but I expect people with less than perfect eyesight might.

I have a 24" 1900x1200 too and honestly prefer the ratio, but 30" screens are just scary money.

You cant see the pixles.

the 27" and the 30" are basically the same its just the extra few inches are added to the 30" due to vertical added resolution.

V interesting.
So is there any need to try and get a pixel perfect screen in either sizes if you can't see it in essence?

Well Yes and no, Its not impossible to see them, just harder if you sit a normal way away.

I have a single dead pixel on my 27" and i see it on a white background.

i personally find text quite easy to read @2560 x 1600, but having said that i have had a 30" monitor for over 7 years now so i am very used to it, i do everything on it from reading text playing games editing photo's and watching movies, i could not go back to a smaller screen,

The main advantage for text viewing/editing with the 30" is the increased vertical space. If you can afford it go 30. They're incredible monitors.
