Hi guys,

I'm getting a laptop for the wife to play games on, yes I know it's better to build a rig but we have no space for two, and she has really put her foot down on this one :( so it has to be portable.

I have found two that I like, they have a bit of a difference in price and I do not know enough about laptop specs to say which is better so I need your help please guys! As far as I can tell it comes down to integrated VS dedicated graphics but want to double check with you.

The first is Lenovo Thinkpad Z580 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lenovo-Ideapad-15-6-inch-Laptop...

The second (and I assume better because of the dedicated GFX card) http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/laptops-netbooks/laptops/...

I have seen videos on Youtube of people running Battlefield 3 and Need for Speed on these machines, and the wife only plays DayZ so I suppose they will be sufficient. The only thing I would like to do is upgrade the RAM from 6gb to 8gb, assuming thats possible.

I am open to alternatives if you have any suggestions. Budget is £550 absolute maximum.

Really appreciate your help.

Kindest regards.

I would wait till early June for the release of Intel's Haswell CPU, which the top spec iGPU (Iris 5200 Pro) is supposing to be "comparable" to GT650M (granted it could had been hyped up by Intel, but considering they did mention the two GPU in one sentence, while we can pretty much bet the Iris 5200 Pro will be slower than the GT650M...but hopefully won't be hugely slower.

AMD is also launching their new "Richland" APU range around the same time, which is supposedly improve over the current APU range in both the aspect of CPU and GPU.
