global riots?

I predict a riot..... I predict a r.i.o.t....

In the UK at least - the days of big, uncontrolled riots are finished.

Teenagers are too busy watching the stuff kick off on their tablets to bother getting their hair messed up by a water cannon :p And the 21-35 age group who would in the past had a genuine grievance / issue to riot about - well they are usually smart enough to know that they will never change the course of things in this country any more......it's not like the 70's or the 80's.

Besides, the cops / authorities have too many tricks and too much training - and most importantly, too many sophisticated tools and weapons to let anything even remotely kick off these days. The 2011 riots were hardly "riots" in any sense - especially when compared to the riots of say 1981 around London.

The 2011 riots were very much riots in every sense. Very similar to the 80's riots of Brixton. As someone who lives in the Croydon borough (right on the edge) it was quite nerve racking reading twitter and watching it creep closer.

President Fernando De la Rua resigned and fled the government palace in a helicopter, driven from office by a devastating economic crisis and days of rioting that left 22 people dead and homes and supermarkets across Argentina ransacked.

The last time i checked, the President of Argentina was/is the fruit bat Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, who's been there since 07...

It'd depends on the weather. If we get a nice summer, then it might kick off. The people want to riot, but not if it means getting they're mckenzie hoody wet.
