Hi I am wanting to hire a car for Friday the 31st of May just for one days rental from enterprise. I am going to go for an Insignia for £42. Just have a couple of questions as there site and general hire agreements are new to me.

So I apologise if these are straight forward questions to you motors folk :)

My current driving licence and counterpart are still registered to my Fathers house I am currently living with my GF so all my bills and other bits are at this address, I am naughty but have not gotten round to changing the address. Would this be an issue with the rental place as would they ask for proof of current address etc.??

Also take it the car will be fully insured I would not have to get some sort of day insurance on the car?

Many thanks, any tips are welcome. I wont crash it :p

They'll want proof of current address, gas/water/elec/council tax bill. They want to see your licence to make sure you don't have points, if there's any doubt they'll just ring the DVLA. (I didn't have my counterpart with me last time I rented from them and they called the DVLA to check)

ofc it'll be insured, you can pay more to lower excess if you want though.

Thanks, the thing is I don't want to book it and pay the deposit then be refused because my driving licence address does not match the one my card will be registered to also a bill to show proof of address?? Would the refuse me the car?

I've only hired through Enterprise once, most I've hired was through Europcar.

None of the two required anything from me. Just turned up with licence and debit/credit card, got the car and left.

I hope so. Don't want any hassle on the day. Hear all sorts of horror stories of people with very bad experience with hire company's.

You don't pay a deposit (£200 pre auth on your card) until you get the car, so don't worry about that.

I've used them a few times, always had really good service - I always book it online, and then often get upgraded once I go to pick the car up as they don't have any of the class I booked in :D

I just rented from them this week. Same situation with the address was no problem. Take both parts of your licence or they will charge you £6 to call the DVLA to check anything.

You need proof of address, two items.

Whenever I've hired a car all they wanted was my credit card and drivers license (never been asked for my counterpart either but I think you're supposed to show this as well).

If you ask them for a pick up they'll go through the req's on the phone while you arrange it. I got a rental off them for a week at the beginning of the month, they needed both parts of my license and 2 proofs of address - was supposed to get an Insignia but got bumped into a Qashqai due to contracts and breakdowns, really didn't like it at all.

I've rented a few vans from enterprise and my license is registers at my parents which I haven't lived at fir over 7years (i've lived in about 8 places in that time so didn't see the point in changing, should now mind)

Can't remember them even asking for proof of address!

This. Took all of 10 minutes to hire a van recently, no other stuff needed. Would have been quicker if they knew how to work the photocopier

e: Have a good look round the car with one of the guys (they should do this anyway), point out anything you see and get them to make a note of it on your rental form, no matter how small. Take photos too. The van I hired last had a scuff on the bumper/wing, nothing major, the rental office I dropped off at wanted to claim I did it. Little oiks, their faces fell when they saw the notes and I showed them pics

Their website says they do, but my experience says turn up and with both bits of your license and not drooling like a Neanderthal and you'll have no problems or need to prove to them your address.
They just want your money basically!

They never ask for proof of address. On occasions they'll ask for 2 forms of ID but if your passport is the same address then you've no problems. You get into trouble when they try and process payment/pre auth on your credit card using incorrect details - if it declines then you'll need to explain the change of address to them, provided you updated your bank of course :)
