A while back i sold my HTC One x because i had to replace a faulty graphics card and quite frankly i can live without a phone but i cant without a graphics card..To keep me going i got my hands on a HTC Desire C...Its a good phone but it struggles to keep up with day to day life and even replying to a message the phone struggles to keep up with my key presses, I've decided that im going to sell the phone and add any money i get from my 17th to get a new phone

Heres my question
Ill only expect to spend around £200 on a new phone because you know..Starting to save for a car and driving lessons but i found that i can buy back The HTC One x for little under £200 but i've also found many iPhone 4S Selling for just under £200 aswell, I never buy a phone new rather i get it from a Very popular auction site. Is it worth getting the HTC Back? Or getting an iPhone or is there another phone that is just as good as the two that i have over looked? I've had experience with both OS's but for what i use phones for i don't need the full customization of Andriod

Thank You!:D

iPhones hold their value a bit too well for me to recommend them second hand at this price point to be honest. Unless your requirement is iOS I'd probably go Android for a bit. You'd get a newer Android <anything> than a 2 year old (and soon to be replaced) 4S too. 2 years is about the time window where games are targetted at a specific device for optimisations, that's not to say that newer games won't work on a 4S - it's just that once the 5S/6 comes out, support will gradually decline etc...

I did look up on the Nexus and i found a few people complaining about the build quality and the Screen quality.. is this true?

Not really, it's glass front and back, so if you drop it there is a good chance it will break, but you run that risk on any phone.

As for the screen, it's mostly a personal preference thing, a lot of complaints were that it's not as 'vibrant' as the Galaxy Nexus/other AMOLED phones. This is mostly because AMOLED screens tend to be quite over-saturated; some people like that, some people don't.

Check out the large N4 thread for more info

Nexus 4.

Taking which platform is better out of the equation (frankly they are roughly equal, it's all personal preference), the Nexus 4 will receive support for a longer period of time than the 4S, is newer (and in this case, it will be brand new and not used).

Personally see nothing wrong with the display on my N4, not as good as the iPhone 5's display but certainly a lot better than the 4S's (which has a smaller colour gamut).

As Rusty! said, a lot of the complaints are due to comparisons with over-saturated AMOLED displays. There is nothing wrong with the N4 display as it is, and the colour adjustments that are being made by some of the devs are just plain silly.

Unless you want a phone on a different platform or want an SGS4 or HTC One, there is little reason to consider anything else within the £180-400+ price range.

If you are looking at second hand devices, the one XL is going for pretty damn cheap these days, imo the best phone out of all of last year (much better than the original X) and a much better decision than the N4 (unless you badly want stock android and fast updates)

If you are buying brand new and don't want to order from the likes of ebay/gumtree then the nexus 4 8GB for £240, saying that, you could probably get a brand new XL for not much, if any dearer from some etailer!

The X, XL and S will/should be getting sense V5.1/sense V4.2.2 within the next couple of months.

Other alternatives (if looking at second hand):

- GS 3
- one S (make sure it is the S4 1.5GHz chipset), in most areas, it is better than the X, only screen res., internal storage aren't as good and it doesn't have NFC

There seems to be varying opinions on the N4 display, in some photos and according to some user opinions, it looks washed out with poor viewing angles compared to other LCD screens i.e. the one X display but then other photos, videos etc. it looks just as good as the X. My friend has the nexus 4 and the display is perfectly good on her device, not quite as vibrant as the X display. The only downside of the N4 is the camera.

My nexus 4 screen is good but not great however after getting it 'fixed' with a custom kernel and some tweaking its amazing and just as good as anything else tbh. It is annoying that you need to fix it in the first place though.

Personally think if you can get a HTC One XL is great if you can get it.

If you feel like taking a risk, Lenovo A820 quad core android for around £140 delivered. £60 for your car fund. Of course, if it goes wrong then you need to ship it back to china. Otherwise it is a good deal.
