So I need to add the ability to "screw" things on the end of metal pipes, how would one achieve this?

Like in this picture.

Thanks.

You want to create a thread on the pipe or you want fittings on the end of the pipe? If you want to create threads then you need a Pipe Threader

Your being a bit vague but if your looking at putting a thread on a pipe then you need something like this, needs to be the right size pipe though

are they tapered threads? they look like it in the pictures, in which case you'll need a lathe and someone with a reasonable amount of experience operating it.

??? Hmmm, what about BSPT threaders? You pick ip up quite quickly (a few mins)

What size pipe , what material , what strength does the threaded connection need to have ?

So many variables with very differing answers

So can you get this done somewhere or am i going to have to buy the threading kit?
An Industrial Electrician will have this kit, but for a one off job you might as well buy a cheap die kit off ebay for £25, cutting a thread is fairly straightforward (I should put a disclaimer on that statement really)

If you told us the size of the pipe or the application then we could perhaps be more helpful.

Do kids not do Engineering at school any more?
