Seeings as OverClockers have their 5% discount offer running atm i thought i would take advantage of this and buy components for my Haswell build.....minus the cpu and mobo, this may push my budge up depending on how much the cpu and mobos will be

My main concern is will the CPU heatsink clear the memory modules i have chosen? Should i look at changing anything out?
I do some video encoding, playing games and web browsing do i really need more than 8GB of RAM?
Will the K2 Mount Doom Cooler be better than the Corsair Hydro H110?

Thanks for any input

That's a solid spec, don't think you will need 750w though. Not sure if this will help but I've seen that RAM fit under a Noctua NH-D14 so the K2 might be fine.

That memory good for OC?, hopefully i should be able to get the haswell to at least 4.5GHz. Im in 2 minds if i even need 16GB of ram, my current build only has 6GB and hasn't appeared to ever struggle on the memory front, can you actually notice a difference from 1 system that has 8GB to another that has 16GB?

I am actually toying with the idea of xfire 7950's.

Any ideas on the K2 Mount Doom VS Corsair Hydro H110?

Haswell should be a good clocker from what 8 Pack has said. Should do that easy.

If you're just gaming you won't notice the extra 8GB of RAM, if heavy rendering or running multiple VM's you may..

The h110i is better overall, but Bang for Buck the K2 is better. :)

I don't mind paying slightly more for a cooler that would perform better, so maybe i should opt for the Corsair plus it doesn't take up so much space. Is the Corsair regarded as the best performing cooler other than going for a custom water cooled system?

Yeah the only other thing i would be doing on the system is encoding videos for uploading to YouTube. Shame i cant find 4 lots of 2GB sticks to fill all the ram slots on the mobo as i guess thats better for OC right?

How long is the 5% discount running for?

I have that Ram and that cooler and it fits without issue. You just need to mount the fan clips for the 120mm fan so that it mounts slightly off centre. Once that's done it just clears the top of the heat spreaders without touching :)

When I was looking at building my rig I was comparing the k2 and the h100 based on this review http://www.vortez.net/articles_pages/alpenfoehn_k2_cpu_cooler_review,4.html the k2 actually ran cooler and quieter whilst being cheaper to buy. I'm not sure if the same is true compared to the h110 but just given the price difference I'd still go for the k2.

I have 16gb of ram in mine and tbh 8 would probably have been fine. I've never come close to using anything like the full amount but I suppose its future proof :p

As AIO's go yes, though the Kuhler series is also very good: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=701&catid=2330&subid=2359

Well worth reading some reviews..

Believe it or not, its actually worse.. It's better to have some free slots.. (i am pretty sure 8 Pack said it)..

No clue, possibly til the end of next week (for haswell :))

Surely the cooler will not be compatible with the 1150 socket yet? Once Haswell has been released they will ship with the correct bracket but for now theyre only compatible with 1155 1156 etc?

Ok this is my revised basket...

Decided to go with the H100i cooler, as it should perform better than the K2 Mount Doom....or though it is almost twice as much . Added a 3TB drive as i do video capturing now so i need a big HDD...or though will i be better off with the WD Red for capturing? And decided to keep the Corsair theme and go with the CX 750w PSU. I also took advantage of OC offer on 670 card atm, how much better is the 670 than the 7950?

Ofc its not better lol thats why i swapped the 670 in that build i showed you to a 7970, same price but way better card.

Also i wouldnt get a green HDD im sure people said they are poop somewhere, get a seagate 3TB or a WD Black.

The H100i is good but its supposed to be noisy, grab a noctua if i was you, i idle at 30C at 4.4 and its really silent, i am in a phantom 820 though so that helps a lot :)
