Advice Needed - H80i, H100i or Good Air Cooler?

Hi everyone,

I've got about 100gbp to spend on a cooler for my Bitfenix prodigy build. I'm running a 3570k and overclock to 4.2ghz, no higher planned.

What would be the best bang for buck, with half-decent aesthetics and good performance. Currently running the H80i but returning it as the LED flickers, so I'm opening up my options.

Thank you :D

Best bang for the buck is definitely Cooler Master 212 - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-035-CM
If you something a bit prettier than Cooler Master and a bit cheaper than H100i - Dark Rock Pro 2 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-005-BQ is a good option, it's quiet and has very good performance for an air cooler. And I think this is one of the best looking giant bricks.

Edit: Didn't realise you're using a mini ITX board - as Doomedspeed said air cooling probably is not an option (it'll not fit).

Running a Z77N-Wifi. Why won't it fit?

The CPU socket is too near the PCI-E Slot. If you put a big air cooler on your motherboard it would block the PCI-E slot, making you unable to install a GPU.

I'd personally go for the H80i, as it offer great performance at a good price though if your willing to spend more the H100i is another choice.

Ive read both are very noisy! My mate has just got the H100i and its nowhere near as silent as my Noctua and it doesnt even get much cooler tbh, we are both clocked at 4.4 so it may be better for higher clocks but then theres more noise again!

That's if you run the fans a 12V, 7V is more than enough and it's quiet too.

If you were using a micro-atx motherboard this wouldn't be an issue. Air coolers such as the Scythe Shuriken 2 rev.b will fit and not block the PCI slot on micro-atx boards. The problem is if you intend to use high profile memory as the first two bays will be impeded.

As you're mini-itx I think your only option as has been stated above is the H100i or H80i. I've heard that you can get bubbling noises from them though which has put me off getting one for now. I have no first-hand experience with them so can't comment further unfortunately.

I'd go for the H100i and upgrade the fans personally.

I'm a big fan of the Antec ones. I'm using a 920 with no problems.

I think the Corsair ones seem to have quiet a few problems, or at least you hear of more issues. But that may be just because more are bought (It's always Audis and BMWs broken down on the side of the road!).

Still, I would seriously look at the Antec 920, it is a slick cooler.

surely all of the above coolers are not yet compatible with 1150 Haswell as the socket hasnt been released yet so won't come with the required bracket? I am assuming you will need to go through the manufactorers CS to get the bracket sent to you, if you get the cooler now. Isn't it better to hold off until 1150 is released and the coolers have the required bracket included?

WRONG.

It's been stated before and confirmed that mounting brackets / solutions for 1155 socket will fit 1150 (I think Noctua was the first one to confirm it). Don't spread assumptions.

This means that all of the mentioned coolers will be compatible with Haswell.
